I live in the country, and down the road from me there is a man that drives a semi and is gone alot!! He has about 9-10 dogs that he leaves at his trailer all the time he is gone. The dogs are without food, and I'm sure without water! They have started eating other people's animals. They get together as a pack and kill things and eat them. They have came into my families pasture and ate a newborn baby calf. Then that same week at my Aunt and Uncles cat and kittens. I know because we live in the country there isn't much we can do. Peope actually sit out to shot these dogs, they are mean! If you walk or ride a bike by they snap at your legs with full intention of biting! I'm sure they aren't properly vacinated! What can I do though? The Sheriff says well shot it if it's on your property. Isn't there animal cruelty laws? I'm in Oklahoma. What can I do?

WHy are people on here saying that gettin a puppy at 8 weeks is too early i am a vet asst. people get puppies this early alllllllll of the time ! puppies get 3 sets of vaccines until they are immune the get them at 8 12 and 16 all 4 weeks apart so therefore you can get a puppy @ 8 weeks. puppies are not alloud to leave their mother generally until they are at least 6 weeks. Oh and dogs are not supposed to eat pork! What are you people thinking! DO you feed your dog chocolate?

She is a 4 year old Chow/ separd mix. She ate normal dog food and jumped off the bed which she always does with no problem. Her back legs gave out and then her whole body started shaking. All her muscles constricted and she was foaming at the mouth. We are taking her to the vet tommorw. She is part of the family and any information would help. If by chance she got into antifrezze how long would it take to run out of hyer system? She goes in a semi truck every night. She id doing great now as we speak.

Firstly, let me thank all of you that replied with help.
A little more backgroung - I grew upp with a lab then 2 alsations and love dogs.
My boys have been begging me for a dog for almost a year now and i believe are totally besotted - if not i am !!
thanx - dindnt consider labs and retrieverrs.
Also want my kids to be safe when in park / garden etc - lab doesn't really do it for me ?!!
thinking huskies are 2 wild and bob unpredictable. alsations or golden retrevers is where i'm at now!
love pit bulls but dont want to leave my kids alone around them
For ref: if the dog ever gets neglected i WILL take care of it -i'm a big dog lover.
Still believe the kids will be totally besotted by it and will cherish it.

Anyone have any more comments ? would be appreciated!

My dog (female) is about 6 m/o. I can't seem to teach her not to do #2 inside. And now that there's snow on the ground she doesn't do #1 outside either - just plays around. Plus, she chews everything in site - trash, shoes, books, furniture corners, etc. We are getting more and more stressed about it. But I cry every time I think that we might have to give her away - she is a loving wonderful dog. What do I do??? I wouldn't want to lock her up all the time either - in a cage or a room. HELP!

We used to raise Dalmations.... My mom and dad love them to death, our male Duke was the best dog we've ever had. Our neighbor posioned him (about 10 years ago, maybe less) and he died within a couple of days. My question is, does anyone know of any reputable breeders? I would love to get them a Dalmation, not neccessarily for Christmas, but just because. They've wanted one for so long now, and I've done quite a bit of searching with hardly any results. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

I have a twelve year old Chihuahua and a nine year old Chihuahua, mother and daughter. They are housed in a crate which contains a dog basket with a pillow and a blanket in it and a "pee wee pad" if I'm going to be gone for a while. The dogs are used to being put in the crate when I'm gone, plus they gladly sleep in it at night.

For the last three weeks, my older dog has been getting ill in the cage. It's very weird, it has happened one time each of the three weeks. I come home and find that she has had diarreah and has vomitted. I clean their cage and wash their bedding and she is fine for another week.

What could be wrong with her? I hope she doesn't have bowel cancer or something - she is old... It's just weird how the symptoms last a day and go away and then come back a week later.

I just got thi cute Yorkie puppy on Friday I named her Star , since she looked like one... She was 8 weeks old... I also have a 11 year old Yorkie.. When I took her home she would look very upset and wouldn't eat at all... I had to tube feed her and kept taking her back to the store unti Tuesday morning when they suggested that I take her to the Veterinarian... They said I had to leave her since she didn't look very good. This morning I got a call from the vet that she looked really weak... I decided to go over and visit her... She was hooke onIV and was unconscious... I started petting her she would immediately respond to me by crying.... I felt really bad leaving her there....but they said I can't take her.... I was petting her for about 5 minutes before I left ( I almost fainted...) After about 30 minutes that I left I received a call from the vet saying that she passed away.... They ran all these tests,,,but nothing. ???

I have a new puppy that I found that was dumped. He is about 7 weeks old now. He's eating good now. The problem is, he started scratching quite often. He doesn't have fleas or eggs. I gave him treatment for that two weeks ago. No he has scabs that are flaking off of him. His elbows and stomach have scabs from scratching & he keeps we opening the sores. I'm thinking he has some kind of Mange.
Should I take him to the Emergency Now. It's 9:00 p.m. my time.

this is a pic of my pit bull puppy. we originally were not going to keep her, so to avoid becoming attached, we just called her baby. Well, now I CAN'T bond with her, I think it's because of the name thing. I can't think of one...can you help me? Her mama was named Jessy, I've had dogs in the past named maxim, bear, rowdy, tramp, texas, mickey, and puppers. I've had cats named Duke, Dutchess, Princess, Sheeba, oliver, max, Minzey, mocha, moochie, smokey, and laquita. I don't think that there is any rhyme or reason for these names......but I can't reuse any of them. I don't want to be to frilly with the name, and not too unusual. Please help me! (P.S. these animals were from the time I was very little, to present....not all at once and not just recently, but I did name most of them)

I have a 160 pound 4 1/2 year old make St. Bernard. He does not listen to me. He is very sweet, but sometimes when he and my female Newfoundland start playing, he gets kind of aggressive with her. I try to stop them from fighting and separate them, but he just ignores me and sometimes knocks me down. He is never aggressive with me, but is very stubborn and extremely strong. When someone passes by, I fear he will go through the window because he goes crazy. He went to an in house dog trainer for 15 days and he still acted up when he came home. How can I get him to calm down and behave. Thank you

My friend who volunteers at the Humane Society tells me that the fact that I got my puppy at 8 weeks of age shows that ours is not a good breeder, and that the pup needed more time to learn things like grooming from his mom. Is this true?
