Looks like there's a Bulldog Rescue contact for your area:

Check with them -- the adoption fee is probably much less than $1000.

Good luck!

I breed bulldogs and I don't think that you will ever find a "healthy" bulldog for $1000. They are very expensive to breed. We pay $500-1000 for stud fee. $300 for artificial insemination. $1500 for c-section. Plus, taking care of them after they are born. That means many sleepless nights because they have to be fed every 2 hours and can't stay with the mom. We also spend a lot of time looking for good, permanent homes. After that, you only get a couple puppies from each litter. Anybody who breeds bulldogs like you should does not usually make a huge profit if any at all.
I would suggest you save a little more money and buy one from someone you have checked out. There are a lot of scams going on now. GOOD LUCK!!!

Stud fee = $800
2 Artificial inseminations with shipping/collection =$1000
c-section = $1200
health testing =$800

All this, for 2-3 puppies.

This does not include basic prenatal care for the *****, nor puppy care what so ever. How many thousands do you think a breeder should be willing to lose on a litter? If you cannot afford the price of a Bulldog pup, you can surely not afford the care of one either. Expensive to breed, and expensive to own as well (ESPECIALLY the CHEAP ones who are likely to need LOTS of Vet care in the future)!

Why not take your $1000 and get an excellent example of another, healthier breed. You'll probably enjoy your dog owning experience far more, and for longer.
