I am so sorry for your loss!! I would keep all of my records, and go to the store. If you paid a lot for it (like I have my Yorkies) then you should be able to get your money back... I would push it, even if you didn't! My Yorkies came from reputable breeders, and they both had a year guarantee on their health and a genetics guarantee. I would say if the puppy had problems from day one of you having her, she had problems before. I know that it's tough, but your going to have to fight this! Also, learn a lesson from this... never buy an animal from a store!! Always look for reputable breeders, if it's questionable then don't buy from them. I hope you get this straightened out, stores should not sell animals, they are just in it for the money!! You poor thing, and your poor dog!! I can't imagine losing one of my dogs so soon.

I am soooo sorry for your loss. I doubt she was depressed. The unfortunate truth is that when you purchase from a pet store you have no idea where that puppy came from. Many pet stores buy their puppies from puppy mills. You have to have heard of these. These are hell holes where puppies are mass produced. They are often full of parasites and other diseases. Since quantity, not quality is the goal the breeder makes no attempt to breed quality pets and often inbreed so genetic problems get magnified in the offspring.
Please next time make sure you deal directly with the breeder. Reputable breeders will give you a health guarantee and you can be assured of getting a quality puppy.

This puppy was sick, with heaven knows what. If you look at her papers, you might be able to find out where she was bred, and if she was shipped across the country. Pet store puppies almost always come from puppy mills, and very often have severe upper respiratory infections and/or pneumonia, and can have many other disorders as well. Small breed puppies seem to have less resistance. She probably wasn't crying in response to you in particular, just to being touched. The pet store should reimburse you, and you should not get another puppy from them.

YES IT IS POSSIBLE
when puppes are bred in petstores they get very little contact, and can become depressed and die, happens everyday. the first thing petstore employess do in the morning is remove the dead animals. dont support petstores its ahorrible industry. yorkies shouldnt really be taken away from their mother until at least 10-12 weeks, since they are so small. the fact that they waited until TUESDAY!! to tell you to take it to the vet is INSANE!! they were probably trying to hide the fact that the dog was sick and hope it got better, so they wouldnt have to refund your money!!! I am so sorry you had to go through this, it is such a sad situation, but sadly very frequent. i suggest adopting or going to a breeder for your next pet.

Depression won't kill a puppy, not that fast if nothing at all! The puppy obviously had something else wrong with it whether it be an illness or something wrong internally from birth or an accident afterwards you aren't aware of. I would demand an autopsy of the puppy and like the previous answerer said, keep records of EVERYTHING. Get the full records of everything done to the puppy at the vet and the autopsy report and go back to where you bought the puppy. If they refuse, take it to court. You have morre than legal rights to every penny back. That poor, poor puppy..... and poor you. I'm so sorry this happened!

I am so sorry for your loss! Did you say you got her from a pet store? That is the problem. The pup did not die from depression. Obviously it was sick when you bought it. I would have another vet do a necropsy(autopsy) on it and find out the cause of death. Keep all your records and copies of all the bills and the necropsy report. The pet store sold you a sick puppy and you should recieve a xomplete refund plus all the vet expenses. Good luck. Agian, so sorry for your loss.

It's possible. This happened to one of my friends. The kids were around 7 and 10 at the time. The step father talked to the father and they worked out arrangements without the courts. The step father had been married to the mother for 5 years and they both thought is was best for the kids. Last summer the bio and step father both coached a summer soccer league for the youngest.

I love dogs myself, but it sounds like you got a runt because it's typical for runts to have depression since the mother usually doesnt deal with runts and normally kills them. You got a pretty good one if the mother didnt kill it. Sounds like this puppy was having some health issues, but it was the right age for it to leave the litter since most puppies leave the litter between 6 to 8 weeks. It doesnt sound like depression it maybe a health problem that occurred after it was born which can happen with puppies since the 1 day to 8 week period is the most critical in a puppy's development. Depression can develop when health issues arise, but your dog was old enough to leave the litter so I don't know how it could be depressed enough to where it died. Like one poster here said always get your dogs from a breeder. Check for licensure and insurance and other credentials. Ask for references if you want to make sure that this breeder isnt selling you a runt or one that's got diseases and defects either genetic or otherwise. Many pet stores are not reputable since the mom and pop places get these dogs from breeders who bring these dogs up in unsafe and unsanitary conditions. As someone said puppy mills are like the animal version of human trafficking because they mass produce the puppies by overbreeding a female to the point that it will kill her since they keep her pregnant after each litter so when she bears one she's knocked up again a couple months later with another litter. These places are cruel to dogs by overbreeding them to the point that the female b*tch eventually loses her life because it's a strain on her body to go from having babies to producing more. Many puppies are born with diseases mainly because the vet care to the mother is crappy and she ends up with parasitic infections mainly from flies and ticks biting her or even bites from other infected animals. If you decide on another dog and you get it from a pet store ask the owner if the dog came from a reputable and licensed breeder and not a puppy mill. Even more investigate by running a check on the pet store to make sure that they havent had any priors in selling animals that were sick and diseased.

Pet stores suck! They sell sick puppies all the time. If the vet you took the pup to was the one the pet store recommends, get another one to do a necropsy (animal autopsy) and maybe even send the body to the local veterinary diagnostic lab or university. You need answers and the pet store needs to pay for your bills!
Please, please, please... in the future either get a puppy from a REPUTABLE breeder or check into rescue... there are thousands of purebred dogs waiting in rescue for forever homes... open your heart and your home to one of them :-)!
I am very sorry about your puppy.
