I have a 160 pound 4 1/2 year old make St. Bernard. He does not listen to me. He is very sweet, but sometimes when he and my female Newfoundland start playing, he gets kind of aggressive with her. I try to stop them from fighting and separate them, but he just ignores me and sometimes knocks me down. He is never aggressive with me, but is very stubborn and extremely strong. When someone passes by, I fear he will go through the window because he goes crazy. He went to an in house dog trainer for 15 days and he still acted up when he came home. How can I get him to calm down and behave. Thank you

Sending the dog away to a training place is not going to solve your problem. You got to learn how to train the dog, in your situation.

Try contacting a good dog trainer to come to your place and have them train YOU to work with the dog.

Sounds like you got pack dynamics issues. You should be the alpha, but it seems like you are not. Try obedience training and hand feed the dog treats after he has obeyed you. He has to learn that by listening to you, he can get good stuff. Also look up NILF ( Nothing In Life Is Free) training program for dogs.

Good luck

It is time you to take your wife and dog to obedience class so she can become the master and not your dog. There are local kennel clubs in most areas that put these classes on and they will last on average about 8 to 12 weeks, once a week for a basic class. Your wife will be trained in how to train your dog to heal, sit, stay and so on with a proper leash and choke caller. Your wife and dog will need to practice 15 to 20 minutes a day what is learned in each class. And after the class is over your dog should be handled, walked and reminded every day of her training. Once you and your wife have a trained 200 pound dog, you will find her much more fun and easy to live with. It is work, it is fun and when you have a finished product in the form of a well mannered dog, you will not remember all the work it took to get her there. When you train in a kennel club you will be training with other dog owners that are in the same position you are. Untrained and untamed in manners. You and your dog will learn together and your dog will learn manners around other dogs and people. Where does a St. Bernard sleep? Anywhere she wants to...until she is trained.

Did you really expect this dog to behave for you after two weeks with someone else? He needs to be trained, and you need to be trained with him, and it should have happened long ago. Find a good trainer who will work with you and the dog, and you will have a happier life together. Learn a lesson from this one and start working with a trainer with your puppy now-- she will also be a big dog, and two big untrained dogs in your house might not be the most fun, especially if they start attacking each other. If you haven't already, consider spaying her and neutering him-- it can reduce interdog aggression considerably. Good Luck!!

Good Luck!!

More exercise and more training. Nothing is going to get done in 15 days. Go to a class. And then another. Go for regular walks. Get some the dogs some mental stimulation. He is bored and in charge. Not a great combination!!

You need to find an animal trainer that will help you deal with these behaviours.
Now, please don't take offense to this, but, you need to take
absolute control of your "pack". You own these dogs, you are
their leader- head dog. They need to have their desire to please you kicked in. It's a natural instinct in a dog - respect the head dog- has something to do with survival mentality. Talk to an animal behaviouralist- if you don't have one locally, try the closest university- I suggest you do it soon, but, relax, because this can be managed....Good Luck.

Is he neutered? How big of a person are you? You and he need to go to a dog trainer that will help you and him learn together.
