She looks like pictures I've seen of rat terriers, but Ive only had a jack russell before. She has a deformed front right paw, and she can barely bark. It's more of a staggard, sickly cry/whine. Her ears stand straight up til just about half an inch before the tip, and then fall. I have a great dane and I'm afraid I just don't know that much about her. Is her "bark" supposed to sound that way? She still has the puppy wrinkles on her face, so I'm assuming she isn't more than a couple months old. (12 weeks tops). I really want to know what type of puppy she is, so that I may take the necessary steps in caring for her.

Her prev. owners did not take care of her well. She has been happy the past 3 months..put on some weight. Its cold out so we've lined her doghouse with cedar chips and have been discussing bringing her in (we have cats, so we are a littel worried) But shes not eating. It doesn't look like shes been drinking much either. She wimpers & barks like always in the morning when I'm leaving, but I don't hear her as much barking in the yard with the neighbors dogs..but maybe im just use to it. Shes excited when we go to feed her. She plays with us but still wont eat. we change her food every day, hoping she will. I don't believe she has had any shots. We decided to wait and get her adjusted here before we took her to the vet. We had a rabis scare a few weeks ago when my boyfriend was attacked by a bat on our front stoop. I'm really scared. I love this dog and I don't want to lose her or put my animals at risk. Is there anything else this could be? Is there a way to treat her without losing her

My cousin is leaving my family her cottage while she goes away for a year, my mom was thinking of getting a small dog but because my cousin was once almost attacked by a bear(i am not joking she has 64 acres of forest!) she wants to get a protective dog, does anyone know a loving but protective dog that's not any bigger then a german shepherd because we don't have enough room at our house
Thanx

Max is a Yorkie, his owner died. Max now lives with me. He refuses to eat any thing with the work "dog" on it. His owner fed him from his plate. I have been boiling chicken and buying him Arby's Roast Beef sandwiches. Any help on transfering him would be great! I have other dogs and they have had difficulty switching, but this one is a trip. He is definately a terrier.

my mom recently passed away leaving behind a shar pei that none of us kids can care for. we hate the idea of having to take the dog to the pound and risk her getting put down, so we're looking for a rescue that could possibly take her in... the closer to utah the better, but i think we'd be willing to pay to ship her if necessary

How do you get yoru dog to bark when the doorbell rings. We have a 6 month old golden lab and we want him to go to the door and bark when the door bell rings. He hardly ever barks to begin with. He barked once and it scared him. I know-- wierd. Anywho. The only tricks he has learned is to sit. How do you teach him to bark at the ring of the doorbell. Please give me suggestions. Thanks.

My akita has never attacked another dog. He has never barked or growled at another dog. He has protected me when he thought I was getting attacked in the woods one time by two blokes. He barked and growled and blocked there way. But He has never shown aggression towards other dogs.
Numerous small terrier breeds have growled, barked and even lunged at him. (Joke) Labradors have tried to attack him (when puppy) and staffordshire dogs have shown aggression. Why do we never hear about these breeds as been dangerous. Akita's are great dogs. Pitbulls, Rottweillers and Akita's are being victimsied - German shepherds attack more than all these three dogs put together. Do you agree?

We bought a puppy staff 3 weeks ago. He is obviously very excitable and seems to have settled in quite well. We have a 3 year old and a cat. He tries to play with the cat, and the cat swipes him and he goes away..so no prolems there really. My son plays too and the puppy gets a bit excited and my son sometimes gets hurt, but its only the puppy playing and not understanding his limitations that we have to obviously teach him.

Over the last few days the puppy has, in my opinion, getting a little too agressive towards me. He barks at me and i ignore him, he then jumps up and bites me. I tell him no and i get him by the scruff and put him to the floor. This has no affect at all and he carries on biting me. Jumping up and catching me. I have no fear at all so he cannot sense this. I put him in his cage and it is taking longer for him to calm down and he sometimes comes back out and continues.

We need to make a decision soon as i need to protect my son..
Can anyone help
