Labrador Retrievers don't live as long as some other breeds of dogs. On average, you can expect about 10-12 years. Learn more about the breed by visiting the following web pages:

As a general rule 'the larger the dog, the shorter the life span'. A medium sized dog like a Lab will have an expected life span of 12 years.

I would say probably 13 or 14. I have a Black Lab and she's awesome. She's about 6 or 7 and just as healthy as can be. As far as my other Lab mix he was hit by a car a month ago. Treasure the moments you have with them now...otherwise you'll regret it. Don't worry about the future.

Average is about 12 years. If a proper weight is maintained and they are exercised properly, then they can live to closer to 15. Labs tend to get lazy when they get older (much like humans!) so it's important to keep them fit. They won't get joint problems that way, your dog will have a longer life and you will have lower vet bills.

Average is 12 to 14 yrs. Labs are pron to hip problems so have your Vet watch that very carefully.

About 14 years. My aunt has a chocolate lab/chessie retriever cross that is almost 10 and her vet told her he should live for another 4 or so years.
