i have a 100+ border collie/collie mix. very big and brave. for example he has got in fights with 2 golden retrievers a great dane and a german shepard just to name a few and came out of all of them without a single scratch!! he trys to tare down ore privacy fence to get to other dogs and everything. but one night he was standing on the deck giving some of the meanest barks and growls i have heard in my entire life but he refused to budge. the next morning we got up to feed our goldfish in the pond and one 2 lb. goldfish was floating and had a perfect line right down its belly. totaly hallow!! and a trail of baby fish going out of the yard. is he a chicken of a smart chicken???

animals are very smart. but did you know that a racoon can kill or drown the biggest dogs. if they can get on the back of head of the animal it can drown the animal. plus coon are more vicious and meaner than you think.

Maybe the dog got the fish! Racoons are very mean though, and often rabid--maybe your dog was smart. More important, you need to get your dog to a dog trainer quickly! Any dog that fights with golden retrievers--which are the calmest, most gentle dogs in the world--needs to be trained before something worse happens. (My dog and I BOTH ended up in the emergency room as the result of a fight. While there, I learned about a woman whose own dog killed her (accidentally, but dead is dead) because she tried to break up a fight. Her dog jumped into the air and landed his canine tooth into her juglar (sp?) vein on the way back down. Get to a trainer now, before your dog hurts someone or some other animal badly--you will be legally liable if it does.

Coons can get pretty mean-dog is probably making the right choice.---Also, Coons LOVE goldfish ponds. I don't know where you are, but if you were here (Louisiana) that would no longer be Coon(fishpond menace), rather Coon Sauce Picante (a wonderful creole dish)---enjoy!

I don't think your dog sounds brave, I think he sounds aggressive. If he's tearing down your privacy fence to get to other dogs, he may have more of an aggression problem than a "brave" attitude. I think the least of your worries is whether or not your dog got a raccoon...

If your puppy had gone after that coon in the pond, you'd have found a dead dog in the morning.
