This an update to my last two questions, just for everyone who helped me out. It turns out, it wasn't parvo or depression, it was the later stages of heartworm D:

Luckily, he has an 80 % of living, if we did the treatment. I was afriad we were going to have to put him to sleep, but my parents decided to go ahead with the $700 treatment. We have him on steroids, antibiotics, and dewormer (Hookworms aswell) and having to surrenge feed him.

We are starting the treatment next week, and it will take as long as three months to complete. Wish him luck!

My Cousins best friend who was 19 at the time had two dogs and the rescue helicopter said for her to leave the dogs and she stood her ground and they let her and her dogs on ......because if that ever go in the news that they abandoned a 19 year old that would look so bad ........People should always protect the helpless and personally i think that the selfish people who left their pets should suffer the same punishment.......If it were me i would never leave with out my pet NEVER ....how could you sleep at night
Why even get a pet if you are not going to at least guarantee it safety and good health..................My wife and I helped to rescue 11 dogs of Katrina and find loving homes for the innocent helpless traumatized dogs

I just got a new border collie(i think purebred) and i want to teach her to fetch and bring back. I use a little ball to play. How can i function in her mind that when i throw it, she needs to bring it back to me? What she does now is i throw the frisbee and she gets it but i have to chase her for it. How can i get her to realize to bring it back to me?

we have imported a dog from italy, he was fine with us at first, and still is o.k with my wife, but he will not come near me at any price, I have never ill treated him in any way, all I have done is try to be kind to him, if he goes out with my wife he is happy to let strangers stroke and pet him and if I am outside he will come to me after 5 mins or so, but in the house he runs away from me , constantly, can anybody help ? he also has a habit of looking up to the sky constanly, almost like a nervous tick. I have tried tit bits they dont work.

He's full bred, but I don't have his papers because his father's papers were misplaced; his mother has her papers. He's 5lbs full grown, we are asking $850 for him because that's what we got for his sibling, he has all his shots, he's cute and loveable, but he has to go before February, so what's the best place to get rid of him if I live in the Pensacola, FL area and i'm looking for a nice family?

Hi, my black lab has just started acting weird. He was sleeping on the bed, and every fve minutes kept moving to a different position. didnt think anything of it, until he got off laid on the floor and can not lay there longer than 30 seconds with out getting up and moving around. his back right leg keeps twitching and he keeps licking it. he does not seem out of i, still comes to me when i call him. just keeps mlaying down moving in weird positions. i am going to watch him or an hr or so and then call avet if it persists. can i give him ny quil or something? all else we have in the house is tylenol which i know dogs can not take. thank you!

6 months ago our German Sheppard died of lymph node cancer but we could do nothing for him, we loved (love) him so much. Now our rotweiler x has exactly the same cancer, we love him just as much. We have no money and are both out of work. My husband had a motorbike accident and work 1 day a week. I have been out of work for personal reasons. We have already borrowed money for vet fees from family, and have nothing of value to sell. The treatment will cost about 5000 dollars and may extend his life for a year or so, he is 9 years old. We don't have children, so our dogs are our babies. We went through a debt consolidation organization a few years ago, and they kindly slapped a bankruptcy act on us that we didn't know about ( currently fighting this) so we can't borrow against the house either, even though we have 150,000 equity. Hopeless situation? what did we do so wrong to deserve this. Our dog will have another 2 months if we do nothing and up to 18 months with chemo.

I have a 14 year old cross breed, medical history as follows:-
arthritis, taking synoquin for this
Paralysed larynx, taking steroids
vet says that heart is slightly enlarged but not above average for dog of this age, slight heart murmur. enzymes up slightly in kidneys, but again nothing unusual for age of dog also on steroids.
A few nights ago he appeared to have a stroke/ischemic attack, right side of face appeared limp, unable to stand or walk, no coordination, by the following morning appeared much better, walking, eating + drinking no problem. Then tonight following his evening walk, same thing happened, although didn't appear as severe as first time, but he is now very lethargic. Anyone have any ideas please.

I'm getting a new dog. I already have male dog who is a dachsund. He is 3 years old. The new dog I'm getting is only a puppy and is a female. I'm scared I shouldn't get this puppy becuz the last puppy we got started having seizures because she needed her brother..she was cross breeded to us. I'm also scared because he is a jealous dog. I'm scared he would attack her. Should I get her or not? And how can I stop him from being jealous?
