not all dogs smell bad. it usually has to do with poor diet, poor grooming, or disease. my dog always smells good, seriously people will come over and pet her and have her in their laps and be like "man Ur dog really smells good". lol. i think it has to do with her excellent diet, on Merrick dog food, as i do not bath her often because its bad on her skin.

Along with thought in mind that the dog may well have a health
issue or poor diet,it also varies from breed to breed.Hounds &
bull varieties getting right up there on the "offensive odor" scale.
it would seem.Perhaps it has to do with an oily skin common to
the breed.Dirt magnet,I guess.
Had a male Boxer for yrs. that needed regular bathing or he would get pretty "ripe." And we always knew if an electrical storm
was in the area.Although,he never exibited any signs of nervousness or anxiety,he'd put off an odor that would make your
eyes water.Like very bad foot odor.
Some breeds actually have a pleasant odor about them and do
not require a lot of maintenance.Like Rottweilers.They have a
"toasty" smell about them, for whatever reason.Only require a
bathing about twice a yr. according to my vet.

If your dog really reeks, he probably has some spot giving him trouble: an infected skin fold, irritation making his skin oilier, ear mites. Are his ears full of brown gunk?
Sniff him all over and find the trouble area, then wash it with some warm water and maybe a little diluted rubbing alcohol or shampoo. If the whole dog is smelly, give him a bath. Bathe him as soon as he starts to stink again.

well first of all my dear you first must bathe your dog at least twice a year if not more. does he smell worst than you ? yes just like people dogs need a bath once in awhile too yes you would stink to if your parents didn't give you a bath from time to time. so the Best advice to you would be (and please take this in the most kindhearted way for you sake and the dogs. they only smell if you dont wash them every so often.
