Wake up people. To the person saying it won't pass because it takes your right away to own what breed you want. It as happened in over 100 cities in the US. Some states are also looking into breed bans. If you can not tell this is a full blown attack on our right to own what dog we want. It will not stop. Why? PETA and other outfits like it are looking to control what kind, under what condictions, and who can have pets.

Here is a quote from Ingrid Newkirk PETA’s president.
“I don’t use the word “pet.” I think it’s speciesist language. I prefer “companion animal.” For one thing, we would NO LONGER ALLOW BREEDING.. People could not create different breeds. There would be no pet shops. If people had companion animals in their homes, those animals would have to be refugees from the animal shelters and the streets. You would have a protective relationship with them just as you would with an orphaned child. But as the surplus of cats and dogs (artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship – enjoyment at a distance — Ingrid Newkirk, PETA’s President, quoted in The Harper’s Forum Book, Jack Hitt, ed., 1989, p.223.
This is the same woman who thinks the killing of chickens is a bad of the killing of Jews by the Nazi. I can show you that quot to.

In general, breed-specific legislation is a big quagmire. Most research (although very limited) does not support the idea that certain breeds of dog are more vicious than others. The real deal is how they are reared. There are heritable behaviors, certainly, but no one has shown that, except in one specific pathology, that general viciousness is one of them in dogs.

Please note the following: The AVMA supports dangerous animal legislation by state, county, or municipal governments provided that legislation does not refer to specific breeds or classes of animals. This legislation should be directed at fostering safety and protection of the general public from animals classified as dangerous. More than likely it will never pass, because it takes away the right for you to choose the type of pet you can own and dogs are wholy accepted as a domesticated pet.

If they ban pit bulls, then they have to ban small scrawny ankle biter dogs as well.

I totally agree with you. People who own any dog over 40lbs need to fight BSL. Its not just the pit people that are in danger of leg. like this. People need to get involved and take a stand for what they belive in. BSL is unconstitonal according to the 14th amendment under due process. Please need to take a stand and say NO!!! Every breed is in danger not just pits and other bull breeds and working breeds!
