Oh yeah, had that one with several dogs. She's excited and anxious.

First take her for a walk every day and get her used to that-do it for about a week.

Then put her in the car for a short time with the door open, then take her for her walk......for about a week.

Then shut the door, let her stay inside for a few minutes...then take her for the walk...for about a week.

Then drive her around the block in the car before you take her for a walk.....for about a week.l

What you are doing is reprogramming her mind to think that the car comes before something really fun, the walk.

Also, one final bit of advice-be very matter of fact when putting her in the car-getting overly soothing just makes her more anxious.

This worked for my chihuahua Cody. One other thing-I always put my small dogs in a crate in the car-it makes them feel more secure, is safer if there is a wreck and easier to clean up if there is vomit.

She suffers motion sickness.

Never put her in the car after eatiing or within 2-3 hours of eating.

Begin slowly by sitting in the car with her every day but not starting the car or going anywhere.

When she seems ok with that, start the car but still go nowhere.

When she's fine with that take a trip around the block only. Continue to do that every day until that sits well with her then GRADUALLY increase the distance. Take her favorite toy to keep her distracted. Try letting her sit, stand or lay down whichever she finds best.

Ginger which you can supply by feeding a gingersnap cookie helps with car sickness which will help with nerves. a crate (carrier) may also help & try having her ride imedatly next to or directly behind the driver. I get miserably car sick my self and the right behind the driver advise was a godsend...
Try for smooth strait roads if you have options on routes and do lots of rides with fun things at the end. I had one so bad she would get sick as soon as I started the car (BEFORE I put it in gear) she did eventually get over it.
Also the bonnamie carsick med for people works for dogs too - ask your vet for dosage.

One of my dogs used to get carsick, but he actually seemed to enjoy the car ride. I made sure to take away food & water about 1/2 hour before any car rides - - it made a HUGE improvement in the throwing up department.
If your dog is that scared of the car maybe you could let her into the car when it is not running & moving to help her get used to it.
She may never change, in which case, I would recommend only putting her in the car when you absolutely have to.

There is no way to BREAK motion sickness--it happens to people and unfortunately it happens to some animals---The reason she get nervous (I imagine) is because she feels sick and she has probably been reprimanded for getting sick in the car--she knows she is going to get sick and it doesn't help when she does --I would say like most people they outgrow motion sickness as your pup will too give her some time and every now and again just take her for a short spin like around the block to see how she acts --take her somewhere fun like the park --not just to the vet that too could be upsetting --like cats --we don't take cats in the car like we do the dogs so it seems to them every time they go for a car ride they are going to get poked and prodded NOT FUN
Hope I could help some

I have 5 dogs. One of my little dogs gets very nervous in the car. All the other ones love to ride. It is just her. She is just nervous about riding in a car and probably won't get over it.
