I currently feed my dogs half Nature's Logic and half raw. ONLY half raw because raw is a bit pricey. The kibble I use has no synthesized vitamins/minerals added. It is all an all natural food. BUT I would like to go to a butcher and buy the family size package of meat to freeze and give to them with the kibble. I use Nature's Variety frozen raw but am not above trying Primal or someone else's. I just use the pre-made because it is sooo much easier than grinding/mixing myself.
O BTW they LOVE frozen turkey necks!!!

My dachshund is overweight, and everytime I take her to the vet, I have to hear how overweight dachshund are prone to back problems and I get depressed. I know I have to help her with her weight problem-but here's my dilemma. I want her to enjoy her food too, if she doesn't-she sneaks cat food. Right now I'm feeding her Nutro-Natural choice for Overweight dogs. She loves it. But she doesn't really seem to loose weight with it, but doesn't gain either. But when my vet had me put her on the low-cal Science Diet she actually gained weight because she would sneak any food she found anywhere, because she hated it. Help! I want my pooch to be happy and healthy.

I think that the gundog breeds are really beautiful and neat, and I'm thinking of getting one. I don't hunt and it would never be used for hunting, but I just generally like these dogs...spaniels, setters.... Does anyone own one? What kind? What are they like? Thanks for the info!

My little dachshund is laying all cuddled next to me on the couch in the cutest position. Like dogs in general, she gives that endearing love that only a dog can give.

I admit, that I post these dog questions every once in while because after seeing my dog be all cute and sweet I feel crave having people email me with their dog stories. Nothing like a good dog story to make the world seem like a peaceful place.

First off...I know take her to the vet.
Now, my dog (a one year old, rat terrier mix) has been waking up in the middle of the night to throw up for four days. She hacks and then vomits up whatever - dog food, treats, stomach juices. But, the weird part is that she is acting TOTALLY normal - running around, eating, peeing, pooping, begging. I have no idea what could be causing the vomiting. I swear I am a HYPOCHONDRIAC when it comes to the dog - she goes to the vet at least twice a month. Can dogs just get sick and get over it?

ok, i have a 4 year old shi-tzu and a few months ago, she woke up and she couldnt walk. her legs were like sticking straight out and she was shaking. then after about 10 minutes it passed and it was like nothing was wrong.
then it happened again tonight. but this time it lasted longer and her pupils were very big.
we are going to take her to the vet next week but i just really want to know what is wrong with her. she didnt eat any chocolate or anything except her dog food.
my friend's cousin got a dog from the same place and it died when it was 4.

I have a Chihuaha that is 4 months old and well on his way to being housebroken. I am very happy with his progress with crate training. My only question is every time it rains, he refuses to go out. I even close the door behind him and he stays just out of reach of the rain. I can have him out there for 20 minutes and he still will not set foot in the rain. I'm not sure how to make him go. I hope this doesn't go on when it starts getting really cold! Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

She recently went into heat for the first time. We immediatly separated her from our seven pound male because she stayed too small to breed and we had an appointment to get her spayed but had to wait do to her heat. Anyway she is at least one week past the end of her heat and her nipples are more swollen then ever. We were told recently by the vet that she may have gotten pregnant before we realized that she was in heat. Anyway the question is because she only weighs three pounds and our male is seven can she successfully have the pups either through natural or c section or would we need to have the pups aborted. Please any help would be appreciated. We would hate to abort the pups but will also not risk her life for theirs.

The dog seems perfectly fine and I think if it were an abcess he would be sick or uncomfortable..I am concerned about cancer..Anybody with some expierence with this pls give your opinion..I know to see a vet, but I don' have alot of extra money for that. P.S I live in Canada

I think I have what I will need but also feel that I may not have what I need. I'm a what if person and think about all the what ifs during the whelping. What do you have in your whelping kit?

Recently, I got a call from the veterinary telling me they had a two year old female, pure-breed Golden Retriever that they were giving away. They had rescued her from a house where she was kept in a VERY small space amongst a pile of garbage, they often hit and even burnt her and barely fed her enough to keep her alive.

After a bit of thought, I decided to take her in. Now she's been here almost a month. I was surprised at first of how intelligent she is, in this short time she has learned several verbal commands and more.

Now, the actual problem is this... She bites EVERYTHING. My guess(If I'm very wrong here, please correct me) is that just like a human child, because she had absolutely no stimulation, she never went past the "puppy" stage in her mind. She has done a mess in our garden, broken my remote controllers, etc.

Over time, she has learned to leave stuff alone with a solid "NO"

I'd like to know what I can do about the garden, since she does this when out of sight

I'm just wondering if anyone thinks this is wierd. We have two dogs. one is a little frisbee dog, and one is a rott. I am convinced that they both think that they are human, especially the little one. I was just eating dinner and simon the little one was drinking my soup. I was eating it. but he thought it was ok to just have a couple drinks of it. He also has to smell everything that i am drinking. He only drinks it when it is milk or water, I just find it wierd that he smells it. (they always have water and food). The rott inka thinks that she owns our bed. She will push my boyfriend off the bed at night. Then she gets all pissy with us when we kick her off. Both of them sleep on pillows in our bed. This isn't even half of the wierd stuff that they do.
Does anyone else think this is wierd.
Does anyone have dogs that act like this?
