I'm just wondering if anyone thinks this is wierd. We have two dogs. one is a little frisbee dog, and one is a rott. I am convinced that they both think that they are human, especially the little one. I was just eating dinner and simon the little one was drinking my soup. I was eating it. but he thought it was ok to just have a couple drinks of it. He also has to smell everything that i am drinking. He only drinks it when it is milk or water, I just find it wierd that he smells it. (they always have water and food). The rott inka thinks that she owns our bed. She will push my boyfriend off the bed at night. Then she gets all pissy with us when we kick her off. Both of them sleep on pillows in our bed. This isn't even half of the wierd stuff that they do.
Does anyone else think this is wierd.
Does anyone have dogs that act like this?

Oh yes!!
Dog people are dog people! Ours has to see what we are eating at all times and smell our breath when we are done eating. They all follow me around because I am the cook in the family. I am talking a English mastiff (biggest mastiff there is) a saint Bernard and our cow dog mix.
They all take over the bed. California King sized ..... they like to be touching us, we move over and soon we have no room. The mastiff pouts when he gets in trouble. Most of the year we leave the door open so they can come and go as they please.
The cow dog mix if yelled at will go to his kennel and not come out until his feelings are not hurt anymore. The Saint Bernard is happy go lucky and doesn't seam to get shamed easily.
The kids have to close there room doors. If not the kids are eating in there rooms (which is a no no) there food is gone. The saint Bernard feels the teenagers room is his room and sleeps on his bed. We say go to your room and he heads to the teens room....
Our house is very critter friendly and have access to all areas of the house. We never have problems with ANYONE breaking into our place!
We own our house as well, do not no if anyone who would rent to people like us?.....We have almost 400 pounds of dog here lol! We are having a puppy coming after Christmas if everything goes good who will be trained as my health companion. I miss my other dog who was trained to help me when getting around is not so easy.....
Dogs rule! People who are not dog people have no clue.....
Also I am or was a professional trainer. These dogs are not human nor do we treat them human, they just have good life's for a dog....

No, actually people think their dogs are people...which is why there are so many dogs with behavior problems. Letting a Rottweiler think she owns the bed is a recipe for trouble - you seriously need to make her sleep on the floor before things really get bad. She is establishing dominance over you because no one has let her know they are the pack leader - something that needs to be done with Rotts even more than most other breeds. PLEASE take the pushing you off & 'getting pissy' as a sign - this will escalate if you do not correct it.

Doesn't sound like they think they are human... they are just being dogs. As for the bed thing, if that is where she usually sleeps, then ofcourse she will want to sleep there everynight.

What would you do if your boyfriend suddenly threw you off the bed and said sleep on the floor?

Dogs do not think they're people ... their minds are not that complex.
It's more likely that dogs think people are two legged dogs.

If you believe your dog acts weird, consider this ... he is of a different species and his behaviors are probably consistent with others of the same species.

Hon, your dogs don't think they are people, they think people are slaves who serve them. You just might have a problem here. It's ok for dogs to think they are people if they take the form of well mannered and obedient children, but yours are brats.

my dogs act like people, but they require discipline or they will run the house....and as a general rule i don't let any animal that licks his own butt drink from my glass.

To me what is weird is that you let them drink from your glass or eat from your bowl. Now that is weird.
