I have a Golden retriever puppy of 1 month 3 weeks and my 8 y/o Basset hound is being aggresive towards him, he's very rough on him and tried to bite him twice. I'm really worried because I love them both!! the puppy loves giving hugs and kisses to my 13 y/o setter who is Ok with him. The pup likes to play with both (at least he tries!), he's very outgoing and not shy at all! What can I do to get my basset used to the new puppy?? are there any tips? ANY info is welcomed! thanks

I found a puppy 2 weeks old on the streets and adopted it. From the first day i noticed that when it feels sad and alone, it bites its feet in agony. I tried to play with it and make it happier. Now its 5 weeks old and it bites me whenever i play with it, not aggresively but playfully. I try to grab it from the neck as suggested by a book i have, but the puppy turns and bites me harder:( Then i yell and make sound of being hurt, the puppy bites even more and all over my legs and hands (it gets more excited)

I really dont know what to do. I even thought to give it away to the municipality dog collect, i cant touch it withouth being bitten.

Thank you for any replies in advance, Anna

my border collie is 4 months now, i take him out 2/3 times a day. during the day time i keep him on lead and just take him for long walk, but later in the evening when there is barely any activity going on i let him off lead so he can have a really good run around in local field, (not play ground) so far he has come back to me when called with no problems, i would like to start doing this in daytime also, but i am a bit worried that as there is more going on in day he will get too exited and run after people or dogs and not come back (he loves everyone and everything), do you think he is too young for this or should i trust him. he is generally very well behaved for such a young dog. any tips from anyone.

Why do my dogs (St. BErnard, Lab, & Blue Healer) sleep outside when it is cold? I bought them a big 15x12 out building to sleep in when it gets cold, and we put straw in there along with each dog (3) a bed. They also have straw outside that they love, and they will not sleep inside unless it is raining. Is this normal for dogs?

My 3 year old dog, Tessa, is really jealous of my 11 year old dog, Blackie. They were both abused in their former homes. No matter how much attention we give her, she is always wanting more, and if we pet Blackie, we have to pet Tessa. She will freak out and start barking at Blackie, is she jealous because of her history? She was beat by a man, with anything he could beat her with. Does she do that because of her history?

I know it's because of the weird or different noise, but what is it about the head tilting to either or both sides? It's so freaking cute when my boxer does it and he has been doing since he was a pup and he's almost 3!

Here is my situation...

Everyone thinks they are better than me. They think I am not good enough. People think they should have what they want instead of me. I am not good enough to have what i want, i guess.

Do I need a dog? I know a groomer, and a vet, and a kennel, and several people who could petsit. I know how do look for the right kind of dogfood. i also can afford a dog. So do i need a dog? Do you have a dog that has always been your friend? does it get mad at you? please tell me, DO I NEED A DOG???

My dogs have tapeworm. We have to keep them outside until the tapeworm is gone. They think that they are being punished, is there any way that i can teach them that they are not being punished? (We already gave them the medicine, we just have to wait now.)

I'm allergic to pet hair - it makes me sneeze, cough, wheeze, and sometimes my mouth swells up (for some strange reason!). But I'd love a pet dog. I've heard that poodles are good for allergy sufferers, but are there any other breeds that are good for people like me?

I have 2 dogs, they know where to go poop but are playing one against the other to see who can get in trouble. What food coloring or additive to their diet (without harm) can I add to see a difference in the color of one's poop?
Thank you.

I just got a new border collie male, he is four months old. I have been taking him out every couple of hours and he does pee outside when i take him, and I am sure to really praise him and give him a treat. Occasionally he has gone inside on newspapers that I have put down for an emergency, but this morning he has gone and went pee in the corner of the room on the carpet twice!! Right after he went pee outside he comes in and pee's on the carpet. Its a brand new home so he cant be smelling other dogs pee or anything....how do I get him to learn to hold his bladder for when he goes outside every couple of hours.

Ok, I couldn't resist. I took my children to visit the local animal shelter and we couldn't just take home one. We fell in love with 2. We live on a farm so there is plenty of room. One is 5 months and the other is 9 weeks. I have a few questions. They are both playful with each other. However, the little pup sometimes yelps like he has been hurt while they are playing but continues to play. Is this something to worry about? Should I stop them when the oldest seems to get to rough? Is this rough playing going to trigger any aggressive behaviors that I should be concerned with? Also, I am very nervous about leaving them when I go to work. Would it be ok to gate off the hallway and close all doors and keep them in the same area together? Or is it better that I crate both of them in seperate crates? I have to get them potty trained! We've had them less than 24 hours and I have already cleaned up poop and pee and mountain high lol. Any suggestions?

my sister in laws dog had a litter of pups earlier this year. She is a bull mastiff. If she wanted to breed her again would there be a chance she would have a normal birth or would she habe to have another c section.

I just bought a 5 month old Cairn Terrier. I am having severe problems training him. Not only will he NOT go to the bathroom outside, but he will ONLY go when he is put in his crate. He doesn't care if he lays in it all day. I am trying to train him to use a wee wee pad in a puppy litter box, but he absolutely refuses. He is so cute, but I won't be able to keep him much longer unless I can figure out a way to handle his problem. He also has a pretty good case of seperation anxiety after only a few days!

1 year old Lab. Got her from the SPCA about 2 weeks ago. She came with kennel cough. She is just getting over it. She's still been coughing and gagging a fair amount, but eating and drinking well. Other than that, seems healthy, very active and social. Plays quite a bit. Late last night, tried to give her a treat- would not eat it. Had a poop accident in the house. This morning, she would not eat regular kibble or soft treat. Drank all of her water, and I refilled her bowl for her three times. Seemed like she hadn't drank in days (even though she has regular water available at all times). What's wrong? Is this normal?
