Years ago we had a long haired chihuahua who was afraid of my husband and would never let him touch him. My husband is a kind and gentle man, but Randy was still terrified. When Randy died suddenly, my husband took him out to bury him and said 'That was the only time I've ever been able to hold Randy'. Sometimes dogs just never warm up to certain people.

Were they adults when you got them? Adults when you got your hubby? Do they bark at all men? Does he train them? Feed them?
Please call your local spca or humane society and talk to their dog trainer for ideas. If these are rescue dogs, call the group and they will help you.
If you had them before the hubby, maybe they need to get to know him. Put him in charge of feeding them. Have the rest of the family stop giving them treats. All goodies come from daddy for a few months.
Definitely call someone for help. If you had to (God forbid) get out of the house in an emergency, your hubby needs to be able to scoop them up in a hurry.

If perchance you got these dogs after they had another home, it is very possible that the adult male at that residence mistreated them. I have a friend whose dogs are the same way. They just love the woman and the kids, but are terrified of the father. Just a thought. Hope it helps!

the project isn't inclusive of your husband. So he could not take it for my area. Lucy replaced into likely abused or maltreated through a male. Her emotional state is really gentle, so what she needs in the present day and plausible for a lengthy time period, is to really be loved and nurtured unconditonally. extremely of correcting her on subject matters; even as she does some thing proper make on over her and can provide her a take care of. she will quickly study the version. you may't take care of her like a classic canine because of her terrible treatment contained in the previous. she will continually be diverse, yet that doesn't mean she isn't an impressive and loving puppy. Rescued canine even as given unconditional love, nurturing, and protection develop into very unswerving staggering pets. and infrequently they develop into very protecting of their living house and proprietors. So if she does not welcome visitors, you'll want to be information of that. She benefits the perfect and she or he's attempting her toughest to do what you want of her. only supply her lots of time and love.

It has been my experience , sadly as it was , that my dog the same breed was the same way with my ex husband because he was mean to her. I do not think this is breed specific it will happen to any dog that has been abused . Maybe you dog is intimidated by your husbands deep voice or big bulky shoes . Small dogs are easily intimidated .

You left out one detail, are they resque dogs? I will tell you why this is an important detail, if they are resque dogs they had to be resqued from something, maybe they were resqued from abusive owners, maybe a male hit them all the time, thats how it was with my dog for a little while but he got used to my dad, If it isn't that then maybe they are just scared of someone really tall or big, if your husband isn't tall nor big then maybe your husband yells a lot, or they see him yell, or maybe he is the one who disiplins him and they are scared of him. I hope I was help. :)

They may not like the fact that he is the "alpha male" and are scared do death of him. He may emit and odor from work (leather, chemical, etc.) or they know he just doesn't like them. Most all animals have the ability to know when to scatter ( fight or flight ).
It can be as simple as the tone of his voice. See if he can spend more alone time with them, they will either love him or leave him.

Even if they're not rescued, some dogs just get a strange idea in their head. What if you make daddy the "treat guy" for a while and see if they start to trust him a little more?

well, dogs have a sense where they can tell if a person is a nice, kind-hearted person. no offense to your husband, but they might take him as a threat and maybe he hurt one or both of them and they didnt like it. there are multiple answers as to why they are acting this way, but that's just a couple.
