We have 2 labs and feed them once a day. We fill their bowls with a high-protein dog food similar to Diamond (a good dog food that you can find at your local hardware store or co-op) every morning and that usually lasts them the whole day. Now, our dogs aren't out and about all day either, so if yours explores and runs around all day, you may want to feed your lab again in the evening. It just depends on the dog.

We also occasionally feed them leftover meats to add some extra fat to their diets. That's really good to give them a shiny coat. Just be sure you don't do this all the time, though. Just every now and then.

we fed ours 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups in the evening of a high quality dog food. read the back of the bag at the ingredients the first thing listed should be meat...not a meat byproduct....labs expel alot of energy (especially when you accidentally press their "crazy-button" and they start running around like a mad dog for no apparent reason...lol) so a high quality food is in order. also you never want to 'free-feed' (leaving the bowl out all the time with food) the dog should be on a routine. free-feeding leads to over weight dogs especially with labs.

Look at the bag of dry dog food and calculate using his weight.

Every dog food is different. You feed fewer cups of food with "premium" dog foods to get the same amount of calories and nutrition as a lesser quality brand.

Don't forget plenty of fresh, clean, water.

I have 2 labs and they seem to do great with a 32 oz. cup of dry dog food mixed with a little water and a spoonful of canned. They've kept a good weight and have kept a nice sheen on their coat. I feed them once a day, at night.

IT DEPENDS ON HOW OLD YOUR DOG IS. LOOK AT THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT TO FEED YOUR DOG ON THE DOG FOOD BAG.

IF THE DOG IS A PUPPY OR UNDER 2 AND STILL SEEMS HUNGRY GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE OR TRY A NEW FOOD . SOME FOODS DO NOT FILL THE DOG UP.

WHEN MY DOGS ARE PUPPIES I SPLIT THE AMOUNT OVER THREE FEEDINGS A DAY AND AFTER THE FIRST YEAR I CHANGE TO TWICE A DAY I HAVE LARGE BREED DOGS.

YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR DOG TO BECOME OVER WEIGHT THIS IS BAD FOR THEIR HEALTH !
GOOD LUCK!!

Look on the package of dog food.Never feed your dog from the table. This ruins thier teeth and causes diarrhea and other problems. If you want your dog to live a long healthy life always feed a nutritious dry dog food.Hopefully he will keep his teeth then so he can eat.

Read the back of the bag - but if it's a puppy, make sure that you get puppy food for large dogs. There's special ingredients to help their joints develop properly.
