Here is my situation...

Everyone thinks they are better than me. They think I am not good enough. People think they should have what they want instead of me. I am not good enough to have what i want, i guess.

Do I need a dog? I know a groomer, and a vet, and a kennel, and several people who could petsit. I know how do look for the right kind of dogfood. i also can afford a dog. So do i need a dog? Do you have a dog that has always been your friend? does it get mad at you? please tell me, DO I NEED A DOG???

I don't know too many people that NEED a dog. But having a dog is wonderful. It sounds like you have all the right sources in place-vet, groomer, etc., so I say, yes!, get yourself a dog--but first do your research on dog breeds--Find one that fits your lifestyle, be ready to attend training classes, make sure you can afford medical care for it, and be sure you can dedicate yourself to caring for it for the next 7-14 years, and then GO FOR IT !!!
Good Luck !! Also, forgot to mention, that with a dog, you will meet all sorts of new people (training classes, parks, etc), and you will find that conversations flow easily about pets, and I think that could help you!!!

A dog can be a good companion, but you also need to remember that a dog won't be able to talk to you and give you advice as a friend, family member, or counselor can. You also need to think of whether a dog will fit into your lifestyle. Do you have room for a dog to run and play? Do you have time to take a dog for walks? Do you want a big dog or a small dog? If you get a puppy, do you have the patience to house train it?

I have a dog and cat. I love both of them so much and treat them like my kids since I don't yet have children of my own, but they also require attention and time. Just make sure you think about why you really are considering getting a dog and if you are prepared for all the responsibility associated with it.

Best of luck!!

You shouldn't just get a dog for the sake of getting a dog or to show people up. An animal is a HUGE emotional and finacial responsibility. You obviously really don't understand dogs, if you REALLY want one, then you should perhaps do some research... What it sounds like is you need new friends, but a dog may not be the way to go. A dog needs as much emotional support as you do.

So if you're really set on getting a dog, don't just jump into it. Do some research on breeds, ask dog owners lots of questions, and make sure you are prepared to care for another living thing.

First and foremost I think you may want to talk to a professional regarding your feelings for yourself.

Secondly, if you have the means to care for a dog, you have the time and energy as well as the understanding of how to care for it properly, then yes, you should get a dog.

I don't think you should get a dog for just your own selfish reasons though. Keep in mind, that not only is this dog going to affect your life, you're going to affect it's life. Having a dog is the most wonderful thing in the world, but please don't get one for the wrong reasons.

I wish you the best.

No you do not need a dog.
Dogs are comapion animals but your life needs to be stabe and you need to already be happy and love life before bringing something else into your life.
If you are not happy now a dog will not change that.

I say just keep asking questions that get people fired up. That way you are getting what you want right?

no one NEEDS a dog. the question is do you WANT one? its a big deal caring for another living thing. i don;t see how a dog will make everyone think of you differently. if thats why you want one then NO you do NOT need a dog.

You appear to need a friend. It is your choice to decide whether you seek friendship from other people or from a pet.
