this morning we noticed the puppy has a hernia, I called the breeder and she said she did not know, but she said the mother has one and she thinks that is not a problem because it had it for a long time and she never had problems with the mother. She said we could take her and get the money back but she thinks it is not a problem. My mother-in-law likes the puppy too much, I dont' know how bad is the situation going to be if she keeps the puppy.

I live in Portugal and want to change the food for my dog. I was given an advice on Nutrisource but it did not convince me.
I found ANF and the formula looks good but i need some personal or professional advice before i make up my mind. ANF is new in Portugal so i wonder if someone can give me some light.
Vets don´t convince me because i know they get a good deal on sales. "any pet nutritionist is welcome as i will not pay commission"!!(joke)

I will be picking up my maltipoo puppy this afternoon, He is eating pro plan puppy food at the moment but it is sooo expensive, Do need to continue to feed him this or is there a less expensive food that is just as good, and if so how do I change his food out without messing his diet up?

Hi, I know it's hard to believe, but I married a man who hated my dog. Our compromise was her living down the hill at my mother-in-law's but she doesnt' take care of my dog. Maya had surgery earlier this summer and MIL didn't care for her properly during recovery and now she limps. I took her to the vet today and he put her back on medication.... I went down to my MIL's and got her bed, her food and her toys and brought her home. My husband came in and I said, "she's staying, no arguing, divorce me because she is my dog and I will not let her suffer because someone else doesn't love her." My husband just left saying he was too mad to talk about it. This has been a HUGE issue with us and it won't go away. I love this dog, we have been through everything and she was with me before he was! I think it might split us my marriage! I can't believe it, but I'm NOT going to ignore my dog anymore. Oh lord, help. Am I an idiot?

I have a lab that loves to dig. Well, he was digging in his outdoor kennel and somehow he got one of his claws stuck in the chain link and the claw ripped off. All that is left is a bloody nub. This was a couple days ago and now it is oozy and a little infected. Is this cause for worry? I hate going to the vet for something so petty, when homecare can do the trick. Any suggestions??

My dog is a puggle (1/2 pug, 1/2 beagle) and she sniffs everything everywhere, everytime.
Sometimes it's freezing outside when we take her outside to do her duties and she is more interested in sniffing a new blade of grass than doing her business....
Is there any way to speed up the pee pee process?
We stay on the porch and say, "hurry up" along with some other choice phrases, but she seems uninterested in what we have to say.
She will speed up the process if I get real aggravated and walk towards her through the wet grass, which I was trying to avoid doing. Then she will only take a couple minutes longer, (if there aren't any new and exciting smells to investigate) and finally do her business because she knows Im mad.
Is there any way to speed up this process and keep my feet dry at the same time...?

I've seen so many questions about what human food is ok for dogs. I'm not really posting a question here, but I wanted everyone to know that the ASPCA ANIMAL POISON CONTROL website is a wonderful resource that you can trust. www.aspca.org/apcc or you can call them at (888) 426-4435

Sorry it's not a question just wanted to share some important info.

Have a great day all!

I know that it is EXTREMELY important that dogs not run or move much for a week after getting neutered but my puppy is very very active and I am dreading this more than I am the actual procedure. He doesn't like to be placed in his crate, instead he goes in by himself at bedtime. But any other time of day he will bark and cry and I don;t want to stress him out so much after the procedure. Im just wondering if anyone had any other tips for surviving this week?

We have a cat, almost 2, who is very loveable and social. She comes running when we get home, she is always in the same room as the family or following us around the house. She does not hide away and sleep. We are getting a new puppy this weekend and I am sure she is going to feel left out and not like this new family member for awhile. What can I do to help her? I am hoping since the cat is so sociable, in a few months she will love having another family pet around. I just dont know how to go about it other than to be sure to keep on giving Lucy(or cat) attention. Any advice?
