I just had this problem too. i have a great dane and a boxer tho so its a lil worse than a small dog. anyways all i did was when they would bark i would silence them right away, either by saying no! or shhh or saying their name in a harsh manor. eventually she will get the idea that barking, growling, or whatever u wanna stop is not acceptable. u have to be persistant and make sure u silence her for every bark, growl, etc.. otherwise shell only be confused

Lots and lots of playtime and attention as well as long walks. A tired dog is a quiet dog. She'll come around and get used to the place. Hopefully you're allowed to have her. Hard to hide a barking dog...

I also would not pet her or coddle her when she reacts this way. That is confirming to her that her behavior is ok. Whether you intend to reinforce her behavior or not, that is how she sees it. "Mom talks to me and pets me when I bark at stuff, I'm doing good!"

Good luck!

If your pet barks excessively, call it to you as quietly as possible. "Shush" the animal if it starts to bark again. Next settle down and call the pet to stay close to you. Be persistent in this routine. Soon you will notice your pet look to you after its first bark. Praise him, as this is the sign of good watchdog behavior.

She will get used to it.... You may consider a small shock collar that gives her a little buzz when she barks..This worked for my friends noisy spaniel..It took 1 week to condition him..now he is collar free.
