Two ways, the non-painful, and then the more forceful.
First one: When the puppy bites you, shout OUCH really loud, then get up and walk away and leave the puppy for a few minutes. Puppies love attention, and by not giving them attention when they misbehave, they learn not to do certain things.
Other way: shout ouch, grab the muzzle, yell no, then get up and walk away. Also, try biting the ear a bit (not to hard as to bruise or cause bleeding) just enough that the puppy whimpers.
If all else fails, pin the puppy to the ground with your hands and growl.

My dog is only small but when she was a puppy she used to do the same thing and i really hurt.
I sternly told her no!! As long as you are constant it will work.
Also if she/he bites you while playing tell her no and stop playing with her/him. In the end he or she would rather play and not bite than not play at all.
lol i even bit her back sometimes (not too hard tho) :D
We did the same with my mums dog and both know not to bite no matter what now. Even if you play with them and get rough and try to make them bite you they wont do it, so it worked perfect.

you don't say how old puppy is or breed, but puppies are like kids they need to know who is in charge and if you let them get away with things they will. if you give a big reaction when you're puppy bites you're leg there is a good chance that it thinks that is a game because you are giving attention, if you just say NO in a firm voice and walk away and don't give any other reaction the dog will get tired of the ¨"game" and go on to something else, make sure has lots of other toys to play with not just your leg! good luck.

You can keep your puppy from biting by avoiding tug-of-war games and be sure not to tease him to the point of snarling. Should your pup start to nip, pinch one of its rear feet. They have a defensive reflex to withdraw when something unexpected touches their feet. Finally, be sure to avoid hitting or pinching the puppy's body, neck and head area (particularly the snout). This will only stimulate more biting.

Exactly - you have to tell us what kind of puppy it is. Puppies have to teeth, so they often gnaw on whatever they find in close range - like a table leg, etc. Get your puppies some chew toys and bones, and use a harsh "NO!" everytime he tries to do it, and move your leg away.

Puppies bite.
Tell him a firm 'no' , get up and move away. Destract it with a toy.
Despite some bad advice given here, NEVER hit a dog.

most puppies when young need chew toys to keep them happy. Your leg looked interesting so he/she is useing it to teeth on. Go to PetsMart they have a lot of nice chew toys for teething puppies. If you have had pups before you should have known this.
