We have had a dog for about 6 weeks that is a year old. She likes to excape. We have tried a variety of things. She pulls out of a collar very easily. She also can back out of a harness. We live in a rental house, therefore, fencing of any sort is not an option. We have her chained outside for a little bit at a time for outside time but typically she is an indoor dog. Any suggestions!

I have a toddler and am doing research on breeds. We have a yard and I am a stay at home mom so the dog wont be left alone too often. I would like one who is calm in doors, but that will still go into the backyard and run around us. Any ideas?

well I just started working at a doggie daycare and I look after around 20 dogs at once in a huge yard.....I do know alot about dogs and all that stuff but I have a soft voice so its hard for me to get the dogs attentions when they are fighting or whatever..... so my question is what other ways then yelling or haveing a "strong" voice can I getthe dogs attentions??? (as you may thought already 20 dogs tgether can get alittle hyper and theres alot of fighting and humping!!)

Okay my pit bull is an outside dog and he has a fenced area in our yard and the neighbors have a husky about ten minutes ago my dog was chewing on a bone and the husky got close and i guess he wanted the bone , my dog had warned him by growling and the dog stuck his paw in thru the fence and my dog like many dogs is food aggressive and he bit the dog one the leg and i think he bled cuz he was limping and crying. The owner came out and checked out her dog , then called her daugter and her daughter told me"did you make your dog bite my dog?' i said no then she said" yes you did cuz i saw you" i was like no i dont even know how to do that and if i did know how i wasnt even in his fence area.should i tell my parents about this? O yea and last year their dog died on our lawn and they thought we killed it and then they poisoned my dog, how do we konw this our neighbor saw her giver her rat poison. Should i report this to someone ? if so who?and also my dog has all his shots and thier dog

I just read someones answer that Heartguard can do this. I never heard that before. The alternative of not doing heartworm prevention seems worse than a possible nuerological side effect. Is this true?

i'm not being flippant- This is a genuine question.
My parents have got a border collie, who theyve had for years, for the most part he is lovely, but every now and then he will literally go psychotic!, he snarls and snears and goes to attack people- it's sometimes quite scary, particullarly because its usually over nothing.
He was rescued from a begger as a tiny pup- and apparantly his mum was the same (so we were told).
My partner had a b/c as a kid and said she was just the same.
is it a character trait to these dogs?

About 3 weeks ago my 4 yr. old male Siberian Husky collapsed. He wouldn't(couldn't) get up. It seemed to be his hind end. He also wouldn't eat. I called my vet who is a friend of mine and rushed him to her. She kept him for 2 days and did bloodwork. She originally thought it was Addisons disease, since his symptoms mimicked those of Addisons. She gave him a steroid shot and said to take him home, keep him inside and just watch his behavior and see what happens. She said that if it were Addisons that he would "crash" again. She had wanted to do bloodwork again after the steriods were out of his symptoms, and we were going to do it today, but about 4 days ago he made a complete turn around. He is eating good, hyper, getting into stuff, trying to climb on the furniture. I called her and she said that knowing this we can rule out Addisons, and she thinks that is was a mild heat stroke, due the the temp. being high this month. Anyone else had a dog do anything like this.?
