Dogs - September 2006

He has been to the vet 3 times, takes pills, gets a bath with special shampoo weekly, and gets a weekly shot, but he is still scratching.
Any suggestions?
Also- any suggestions for something else i can put on his skin to make him stop scratching?
And finally- how are contagious is dog-dog scabies? I live in Taiwan, where there are thousands of stray dogs, do i have to worry about my dog constantly having this problem?

i have a few family members that would love a poodle and she is ready to mate in a few days but the male dog is the neighbors dog and they are not together on a reg basis so i didnt know if they need to be together for days or just one meeting to become pg i would like more then one puppy if possible this will be her first liter so i relize she might only have one puppy just wasent sur if she needed breeded more then once

i am thinking of adopting a puppy of this mix. jack mommy and sheba pop. what do you think the personality of a potential puppy will be. any cons to either breed as far as personality or health is concerned. and what do u think pups will look like. they are not born yet.

Wild animals eat raw meat that they kill, but that is usually very fresh. Can domesticated animals digest raw pork or chicken that has been frozen & then thawed without getting parasites? I think raw beef is OK for them. What about raw fish - frozen or fresh? If there are no bones in any of the fish or chicken does that make it safe for cats or dogs? What about raw pork or beef bones?

Crossing breeds is actually healthy for the puppies. My guess is that many breeders frown upon it because they are so caught up in the purebred/show circuit, and therefore feel that purebred dogs are better.

And I honestly don't see any reason why a mongrel has any more of a chance to end up in a shelter than a purebred dog. A dog is a dog afterall, whether it be purebred or mongrel.

I also like purebred dogs very much, but I don't think they are "better" than mongrels. Purebred dogs just look more similar to each other. Both purebred and mongrel dogs are equally good.
