Not really a question, but keep in mind that PETA is a "radical" animal rights group. I am a HUGE animal advocate but am very put off by PETA. Take the findings with a grain of salt.

Almost ALL dog food companies have kennels where they test their dog foods. Better to test it there than on YOUR pet, right? They aren't testing to see if it kills the dogs (like cosmetics laboratories!) - they are testing things like palatability and how much the dogs need to eat to stay at a healthy weight.
I have heard that the video is an old one that PETA is using to flame IAMS - they are notorious for attacking their detractors or people who won’t support their radical agenda. They don’t believe that anyone should own pets at all – even if they’re loved and well-cared for.
I don't know whether the rumors and websites claiming this are true or not. Go to the IAMS website and see their defense against these claims. http://www.iamstruth.com/ There are many respectable companies standing up for IAMS - I used to work for CCI; they are a very reputable, non-profit organization providing free trained service dogs to the handicapped. Their directors visited IAMS kennels and found NO abuse. I choose to believe them, but I don't buy IAMS or Eukanuba for the following reasons:
I don't use "low residue" foods - they can sometimes cause intestinal problems - it's natural and healthy for the undigested materials to move out of the dog's system. I have always thought that IAMS and Eukanuba were overpriced for the quality of the ingredients - they use by-products.
Look for a food that does NOT have "by products" in the ingredients list or you'll be paying a lot of money for garbage. Personally, I like Nutro - it has no by products and is reasonably priced and my dogs have done great on it for more than 10 years. They make canned and dry dog foods for puppies and adults, and they have a new holistic line of food. Any changes in diet should be made slowly to avoid diarrhea - gradually mix more new food in with what you've been using until he's switched over. http://www.nutroproducts.com/naturalchoicedog.asp
My friend feeds her labs Canidae (www.canidae.com) and they look great! This is another all-natural, no by-product food.
If you still think it's true that IAMS is abusing their dogs, write them an email and explain why you're not buying their product. If people vote with their $$, companies will quickly change their ways.

Believing Peta, is nuts. I remember getting propaganda asking for money that had a supposed sob story about cruelty to a horse. In reading it, I realized the horse was just fine. They were offended it was doing what horses do. Crazy. In answering the other question, it is not the best food you can get for your dog. I have to feed it to a dog I'm keeping for someone, and I can't believe the size of the stools compared to my dogs'. With that much waste, it means an awful lot of that food is not used by the body--junk! I have fed many quality things and have currently settled on Urban Wolf. I can't believe how much more beautiful their coats are, and one had digestive problems or something, and only ate every other day, and dreaded food. No problem now.

OMG this is SOOOOO old already! The situation has been taken care of..PETA are big fat liars anyhow and they are not telling the whole story. I cannot believe they have not updated that story..
IAMS quit doing that kind of testing, go read their site.. I don't feed iams, its a low end higher quality..And EVERYONE says the food they feed is always the best.. Yeah like People can affor 50.00 a bag for many of these "high quality"..
I was feeding Pinnacle, 48.00 a bag, and my dogs always had loose HUGE stools and that has happened with every kibble I have tried except Eukanuba and ProPlan

You are right about one thing, this is wrong.
This was from YEARS ago and the video was proven to be false and doctored. The animal rights groups (HSUS, DDAL, IDA, ADL, etc) LIE to further their no pet agenda. Most of what they say is halftruths or outright lies and I would not believe them if they told me it was a hot summer. I can't believe they still use it, you'd think they would be embarrassed, but they have no shame and obviously it is still working for them.
I don't feed IAMS because I don't like it. My choice has nothing to do with the AR propaganda.
Here, click on facts at the bottom if you are interetested in the truth.

TRUSPORT - HSUS and PeTA have the same agenda, they just hide it better. Do not think HSUS is a animal welfare org, they are animal rights and IMO more dangerous to dog lovers than PeTA.

It maybe easy to deny anything in print about Iams, but you can't deny the video or the fact that The Humane Society of the United States has urged Iam's eliminate animal tests.
So who's right and who's wrong? Even if there's a smidgen of truth in it, which I believe is completely truth, wouldn't you side with the laboratory dogs rather than Iams?

I feed my German Shepherds Iams. My Vet encourages the Puppy series till they are 18 months old due to the rapid growth. This is due to their size. The ingredients are quality. One thing with dog food is to note the first ingredient....it should be meat or poultry. Alot of dry dog food brands list their first ingredient as corn.
Their healthy, active and have shiny coats. No problem with vomiting or with their bowels.

Im sorry, but peta isnot a reliable sourse...they minipulate there data and are anticorprate, so notice how they only pick on companys, and not people. im against animal cruilty, and would probally kill someone with my bare hands if i ever saw them abusing or making there dog or other animals suffer severly, (im being alittle sarcastic, but i really dontever want to see that happen) but peta is just a hippy site that has false info.
this isnt a fact...but im almost sure that peta abuses animals themselves to make those videos, and there in it for the profit. there have been cases of there employes being arested for abusing and killing.

Iams WAS a good food untill several years ago when PROCTOR & GAMBLE bought out the company and dumbed the food down with fillers (they dumbed down Eukanuba too, but not as much)
PROCTOR & GAMBLE are of course very well known for cruel animal testing
I dont buy Iams becuase its quality is now crap

I def. agree with that most people are saying above. PETA is just stupid and exploit companies for their own benefit. I feed my dogs Iams and Eukanuba (depends on what is cheaper at whichever store I go to) and they both prefer Iams, and it's better for them than half of these pet foods on the market. So, please don't believe everything you hear/see/read.
