If the surgery was just done, it is normal, as the area around the bladder is bruised and swollen, and causes discomfort if pressure is applied by the bladder holding urine for very long..

.If it continues for more than a couple days after surgery, she should be seen by the vet..If there is blood in the urine, she should be seen as soon as possible.

It is SPAYED, and if it continues, see the vet. There may have been some irritation to the bladder. It should improve by tomorrow, or call the vet. They all have an emergency number.

She may have a urinary tract infection. I would have your friend take her dog in and have her dog's urine checked.
