My fiance and I rescued a kitten who was abandoned in our apartment complex...he appears to be 90% Maine Coon. Great cat, but he loves to chew on us. He is really good about not clawing us, however he bites and chews. We've tried the Cat Fancy methods of yelling "ow!" and ignoring him, but nothing seems to work. Any advice?

Our three and a half week old kitten can not use his legs, they are not paralysed as such but he doesn't use them, he drags them behind him. He has visited the vet and we have been told to "wait and see", but is there anything that I can do ie massage in a particular way? or anything to try and get him using his muscles? :) He is currently being fed formular because he doesnt feed properly from his mum and is pushed aside by his stronger brothers and sister. please help!

My cat is 8 years old now and had fleas earlier this year. She was entirely rid of fleas but now, she constantly scratches, lost half her weight and fur,and vomits after eating. She consumes a lot of food and water.

Especially when she attacks your leg/arms/ponytail with her claws/teeth. She is all purrs when you step in the room and lets you hold/pet her, but sometimes she just snaps, and it is rather frightening. Especially when I imagine her doing this as an adult.

Also, we are in the process of introducing her to another slightly older kitten we got first. We seem to be at a standstill these past couple of days. The little kitten is an aggressive player, and I think the older one doesn't know quite what to make of it. They get into batting matches through the door. No claws out, just "playing footsie". We have not left them alone yet, only very supervised meeting sessions, which have just been with a cracked door. The kitten slipped out once and their body language was OK so we waited to see what happened. It was fine except the younger one seemed like it was jumping at the other one too much, and the older one didn't like that and let out a little hiss, separated them ASAP. Any suggestions?

I live in a small apartment and have been taking care of two cats. However, it has been very hard with both of them here, so I am trying to find a good home for Charlotte. She is about 8 years old. I got her from a Foster parent. She got all her shots and is spayed. She still has her front claws because they say it is better for the cat that way. She has a slight head tilt from an ear infection before she was found. It is adorable and she doesn't notice it at all. She is very loving and sweet. Does anyone who lives near King of Prussia, PA know who would want her? or does anyone know where I could post an ad for her besides a newspaper? Please ask friends in this area and let me know of any other places to advertise that is free.

i have a 7 week old male kitten and a 1yr old female cat
well sometimes she will tackle him, ive seen her tackle him once and they both rolled three times. ok well, sometimes she will tackle him and other times she will play with him.
when she tackles him is she really mad at him, hes usually not doing anything to bother her, normally just playing by his self. and her ears arent back or anything and she isnt growling
she just wags her tail very quickly

well here a video of them playing

when i go to bed i sleep with the door shut and my cat not sleeping in my bedroom.
i always makes sure she has a full bowl of food and a full bowl of clean water.
shes and indoor/outdoor cat so she is welcome to do what she wants.

well im a very very light sleeper and apperently she knows that because in the morning when the sun starts coming up she will sit outside of more door and just start to cry loud. it makes me up everytime but only me no one else is awakened.
ive tryed ignoring her but she will just cry until i let her in.
ive tryed looking her in my bedroom but she will cry to get out.
and i can leave the bedroom door open because my dog willl come in and eat the cat food.

what should i do?

This is my first female cat, and she now 6 months into her life and in heat. She will be getting sprayed at the end of the month but until then I'm wondering if there is any way for me to help her.

My two male cats have been neutered and don't seem to have any "interest" in her. In fact they seem very annoyed with her bothering them. I'm afraid they will hurt her.

She's an indoor cat and i'm keeping her from trying to get outside but please...if there is any other way for me to help her...please tell me.

It's my fault that I didn't get her sprayed earlier, so I want to make her comfortable as possible before her big surgery.

Any ideas?

Ps. I read somewhere that being in heat is painful for cats. Is that true?

I got her for free from a private home full of other pets, she is only 4 weeks old and only seems to ever scratch at her ears. I have seen a lot of flea dirt in my day, and that's what it definitely appears to be, but I have THOROUGHLY combed her head to toe with a flea comb and have not come up with one. What is going on here?!?!

A couple months ago, we found a little black kitten in our yard and so we kept her. At the time, she was only a little bigger than my hand. She was able to eat both hard and wet food, but at the time she had trouble with dry food. Maybe she couldn't eat it and she was just that hungry. Her collar was as big as when you put your thumb and first finger together in a circle.

Today, she's probably a foot long (without her tail), she eats hard and wet food as well as plenty of water. She's very, very spunky with a lot of attitude. She attacks the dogs playfully and acts like one of them (if she's even a she.) She's pure black with olive green eyes. She looks like a little black panther.

So- here are my questions. How old do you think she was when we got her? I can calculate age from that time.
What breed is she?
How do I tell her sex?

Thank you!

P.S. I can include a current picture if you e-mail me, t_trayne@yahoo.com.

I have two male cats, age 10 and 4. They seem to be very good friends. Sometimes the older one will lick the forehead of the younger when they are settling down for a nap. The younger one loves it --really blisses out and purrs so loudly. Anyone ever observe this? Thanks.

I worry that he is going to hurt her. He pins her down and tried to hump her. I notice it is after she has used the catbox. Any suggestions on how to get him to stop? She defends herself pretty well but He gets kicked and scratched in the process.

I Need someone who IS a Vetrinarian, not someone who thinks thay know what to do and not some 12 year old pretending to be one and there not.. My cat just recently ran away, she was gon for three days and then came back, I found her this morning and the end of her tail (about the last three inches) has been cutoff, all of the skin and fur is gone, it is left with nothing except the small bone. She is not acting like she is in any pain, and she will let me touch it to clean it off, but I d not know, what to do. Does she need to be taken in and have this piece of bone removed? or will the skin and fur grow back? what do I do? I dont want it to get infected, and I dont want her to get something that cant be fixed. HELP, I have a myspace, and you can look on it at the pictures of her tail, my e-mail is lilbeardog91@hotmail.com, Please help me!!

Sometimes, when my cat is playing with the other cat, or just randomly, he will fluff his tail up REALLY big. It looks funny. I have heard that they do this when they are scared sometimes. But why exactly do they do it?

My cat "Red" Is 3 years old, male, neutered. Today (11/13/07) He came in and started this howling it started small then grew louder and louder he drooled a little and his body went limp he wouldn't even lift his neck during this howling phase. we pet him until he stopped and he got up, he ate and acted like it never happend. but later when he was under my bed, i tried to gently pull him out he started this howling again and went limp but didn't drool this time. I didn't notice any limping or other weirdness before this howling fit started.

Im getting worried hes not a howler hes usually quiet and hes never shown any of these weird problems before im afraid to touch him again in case hes got an internal injury or something. Can anyone help me out here? Thank you.
