My cat is 8 years old now and had fleas earlier this year. She was entirely rid of fleas but now, she constantly scratches, lost half her weight and fur,and vomits after eating. She consumes a lot of food and water.

Yes they're called VETERINARIANS. You've let her lose half her weight and fur without getting her to a vet? What is wrong with you????

Your cat may have heart worms, rare in felines but still a possibility, especially since she did have a flea problem, and the physical signs are weight loss and vomiting, I would make an appt. with a vet and bring with you a fresh stool sample, as well as a vomit sample. Sometimes vomit is a way of the cat trying to get rid on the heart worms, but heart worms get into the pulmonary arteries. She may be also having a allergic reaction to flea bites, and flea dirt. She needs to be seen by a Vet. this is probably causing her much pain.

Yes - a VET can help you. Haven't you taken her yet?!?

You're wasting your time on Yahoo. Meanwhile your cat is ill. No one on here can help you figure out what's wrong - the list of possibilities is miles long! You need diagnostic tests to get to the root of it. Please don't waste any more time - your cat is not young, and she is vomiting. This could be anything from a stomach upset to kidney failure to cancer, so don't waste any more time.

I would recommend taking your cat to a vet, it sounds like she may have worms. Same thing happened to my cat, we took her to the vet and had her dewormed, now she's fine. If money is an issue, try taking her to a local shelter, they will usually deworm cats for half the price of a vet.

Your vet is the best person to determine what illness your cat has. The rest of us would just be guessing, and couldn't do anything about it anyway...
