Your kitten sounds cute. I have had cats all my life (20 years plus). Nobody knows why kittens and cats do this, but I think it's "running off steam." Cats, like people, sometimes get bored and want attention. Plus, at that young age, kittens are exploring and sometimes they just don't know what they want to do first. Next time your kitty does this, try running with her--that is, toss her a toy and play with her. You might find a new way to bond.

But if she's continually whining, and she's being fed enough (kittens need several small meals a day), then you might want to take her to the vet for a checkup...have you checked her litterbox? Is her stool lose? She might also be running around if she's uncomfortable from having lactose (found in milk if you give her milk) or if she's hungry. It's her way of getting your attention, again, much like the playing example I gave earlier.

But again, if she's eating normally and her stools look fine, then she's just being a normal, active kitten.

Most of our cats have done this. Our 10 yr old guy will start meowing as if he's lonely or has a problem & when I go to investigate he's sitting there with a cat toy by his front paws & an expectant look on his face. Our kitten doesn't usually meow, but he'll suddenly start leaping around the house & gazing intently @ what must be his invisible playmate ;-)

My first answer is what my momma always called "Monkey bites!" Cats will sometimes go crazy over nothing at all - and it's quite entertaining.

Second - I have one cat who will let me know that the litter box is full by going crazy and howling.

My best bet is that your kitten is just being a kitten - :) They can go "crazy" at the drop of a hat.

Is it an indoor cat? She or he just needs to work out some energy if it is an indoor kitty. We call it the kitty crazies, and it only happens at night with our little weirdo! Mine does the similar meowing thing, but once I click at him, he comes running. It's like he forgets I'm there and is freaking out cuz he thinks he's alone.

Usually cats sleep most of the day, then later after they have had their rest, they don't need to sleep so they get really hyper. My cats do this usually in the evening or late at night. And if you have more than one cat, cats always love playing.
Hope this helps!

My cats do this usually for 3 reasons and it happens ALL THE TIME! Either they just finished using their litter box, its cold in the house, or its like they got a wild hair up their butt and got wired(like they want to play). Its normal...and freakin hilarious!!

It's a cat thing. They will do that throughout their life. Happens less often as they get older.

My Aunt calls is kitty rips.

My cat tends to start doing that at about 10pm. Not sure why, but theres this chair that she sits behind, and if you sit in it about the time she will jump all over it. I think its funny.

They're playing. They're just really hyper like a little kid on a sugar rush. It's nothing to worry about.
