Cats - June 2007

I have an indoor/outdoor cat, spayed and declawed. She stays outside most of the summer. She loves to sit on my car but I hate the cat prints all over the hood, windshield and roof. I only have a car port to park the car in and I can't keep the cat away from the car. Is there something safe for the car I can spray on it that the cat won't like? Any other ideas? (don't want to use a car cover because their a pain in the neck.)

I rescued a kitten from the shelter and immediately took him to the vet, they told me the kitten had an uppper respitory infection and gave me antibiotics and eye drops. The drops seem to have made his eyes worse. I took the kitten back to the vet, they told me possibly scratch, did dye test, no scratch. They concluded the kitten had conjunctivitis(pink eye). They gave me antibiotic ointment this time. This doesn't seem to be working either. I started doing an old family remedy- warm wash cloth dipped in tea. I feel guilty for going against the vet, but I want my kitten better. Does anyone know what I should do? I feel so terrible for this helpless kitty. Someone please help.

My somewhat overweight female kitty, 2-3 years old, seems to not be using the litterbox--the last time was at least 8 hours ago.

We noticed that she seemed to be walking a little gingerly--staggering slightly--at one point this afternoon but she generally seems active, playing, etc. Doesn't seem tender that we can tell.

May be drinking a lot, perhaps not eating as much as she usually does. She eats diet dry kibble and a little wet food every day.

How long should we wait before making a vet appointment, and/or taking her to the emergency vet? Thanks.

I heard that Dawn kills fleas on contact. Has anyone tried this and if so does it work?

My cat has diarreha and vomits occasionally. I dont know if the vomiting is due to hairballs or not, but I have tried to buy some hair ball reducing treats for it, and often take it outside to eat some grass to see if it helps with digest. But for the diarreha i dont know what to do. I heard the pet food science diet was quiet good, but i dont know which kind i should buy. Can anyone help? Thanks alot!!

My new kitten is a ferile cat, who I am fostering/possibly keeping. She had diarrhea when I first got her from milk feeding. Now she has diarrhea again, wih blood in it, I think it could be from switching her dry food to a different dry food.

Is it possible this switch of food could cause bloody diarrhea?

Is it possible it is something worse like Coccidia, or not because the diarrhea has stopped once before?

We wipe his eyes down with a warm washcloth every couple of hours but the fluid is still coming out. I'm not sure if it's an eye infection or what. The cat is only about 8 weeks old. I was wondering if there are any home remedies that could be used, and if not, i guess it's on to the vets.

He's a silver/blue tabby and i'm looking for an original name for him - but nothing too long winded or pretentious (i need to be able to call him in public!). All suggestions welcome!

A stray cat wondered to my house, last night and I need a name. I took him to the vet for check and everything. He is a gray and white short hair. He has a few cuts from fights (I think?). And he has one extra toe and each paw so 20 toes all toghter. The more names the better. Thanks for your help.

I know they are, but some of them seem to completely lack some of these stereotypical features like selfishness. And I live among environments that imply cats.

I know she can see herself. When I got my other cat, she used to attack herself in the mirror. So why now do they not care if they look in a mirror?

she's only 2 years old, our cats have a history of it. she's red right above her teeth.. all around.. i'm afraid it's going to be the real deal. am i overreacting? does it sound like it might be early stages of cancer?

also, can oral cancer be transferred from cat to cat just by eating the same food?

My boyfriend and I just graduated from college, and during college at least one of us was usually around. We both have full time jobs, and I start my job tomorrow. The kitties will be alone most of the day during the week. Will they have any problems with this? I mean.. are they going to start doing naughty things for attention or peeing on the floor or anything? They're not used to be alone like that.

We brought him to the vet for a complete check up last month. All of his blood work came back fine. He has not eaten a thing in almost 3 weeks. He is drinking his water but not eating. We tried giving him everything and he refuses to eat. What should we do? By the way just before he stopped eating he was constantly throwing up. The one last vomit he had just before his hunger strike was massive and sounded awful. Is he dying?

I just adopted a 2 month old kitten and she was fine very active. She is just learning how to jump so her landing is not the best. Anyway she tried jumping from the steps ad must of missed and now limping on her back left leg. She seems like she puts presure on it but then sits back down. I tried to feel the leg but it hurts her when I touch it. I called my vet still waiting for someone to call me back. What should I do?
