We have a ragdoll kitten (6 months old). She has most of the characteristics of a ragdoll ie. Follows me around the house, fetches toys, lays on her back with legs flopped on either side etc etc. She does not like to sit or lay on my lap. On the bed she will lay about 30 cm away from my body or near my feet. Does anybody have experience with this. All my previous cats would love to sit/sleep on my lap.

I rescued her from the pound 9 years ago where she had been abandoned by a former (abusive) owner at age 2??. She has always been extremely affectionate and is rarely more than 2 feet away whenever I am home. She used to be a tiger outdoors leaving 2 mice per day on the doorstep. (I have no idea how many she kept for herself). One day she brought a hawk. I checked her carefully and found no injuries. For the last 3 years she has been an indoor cat because I moved and there are now wolves, bears, and a cougar in the neighbourhood. She used to chase paper balls, but now when I toss a paper ball near her she meows and runs to my lap. How can I connect with her inner tiger again?

i took Max to the vet after he started acting strange, vomiting, drinking and peeing alot, not eating and sleeping all the time, this was unlike my baby. after some blood work we found out he has kidney failure, most definately from the recalled food. he was visiting with my mom a week ago and she knows that i give him 2 whiskas packs a day because its his favorite treat.in anticipation of his visit she went to lablaws and picked up some of the presidents choice packages. after she found out PC was on the recall list she checked the dates on the packages and found that what she had was recalled. tomorrow morning he will be going back to the vets for 48hrs of IV treatment. im so upset. i dont know what to do, i feel helpless and im so mad. i love him so much. i just cant believe it. . i didnt even know about the recall when i first saw he was sick :S so watch ur pets closely. and my poor mom thinks its partialy her fault. this is awful. i wanna do something but i dont know what. :(

I give her attention, I'm not all in her space..

My cat recently got diagnosed with Feline HIV or Feline Aids, I am very close with my cat, and I am worried about catching it. My friend told me you can get it thru blood to blood contact. I was wondering if there were any other ways you could get it?

My 3-year-old male neutered cat has been doing strange poop-related things. The other day he ran out of his litter box with a turd still hanging out of his butt (by what kind of thread or hairball, I don't know). Lately he's been rubbing his butt on the floor and smearing poop in the process. Today he pooped in the bathtub and was apparently rubbing his butt around there, too. (Well, he didn't poop officially. There was no whole turd, which I don't get.)

So you'd think he has worms (this could explain why he'd drag his butt around the cold bathtub), but he's an indoor cat and I haven't been able to find anything that looks like a worm in either of my cats' stool. Any ideas what else it could be?

P.S. He's kind of a brat and I wouldn't doubt it if he was doing it for attention. Both my cats eat dry Science Diet.

I've been thinking about switching my 2 cats to a raw food diet. They are now on canned science diet (not the recalled stuff) and doing very well, but the recall has really made my husband and I think that finding a more preservative/additive free, healthier, more natural alternative would be much better for them. I'm wondering though which company to use, should I order online or look for a local supplier? I'm in Van Nuys, CA if anyone has any suggestions. How much does this kind of diet cost? I'm already paying almost 99 cents a can for their food now, so if a little bit more money means my kitties are healthier, I am all for it. My cats are 2 and 9 months. My 2 year old is 11 pounds and I'm guessing my 9 month old is about 7 pounds (it's been a few months since I've weighed them). My 2 year old has a little fat pouch which I haven't been able to get rid of for the life of me, but he's very trim and fit otherwise, do you think a raw food diet will help with his weight?

I fed my kittens "Natural Choice" pouch which is listed in the recall list of foods that causes kidney failure.... but when I checked the back for the "Best by date" it's different than the ones listed in the recall... does that mean the foods are OK???????

My kittens were fed this food for the past two weeks (not every day) just once every 2-3 days.... they do seem lethargic now while in the past they always ran around and played. Last time I fed them this food was couple of days ago... so if they were infected wouldn't they be dead by now??????

Should I take em to the vet???????

Does anyone know how to get a kitten to clean its anus properly? I.E. make sure it cleans off all of the feces? Its a weird question but relevant to everyone I guess.

Two of my cats have been doing this lately and i didnt know if it was normal. When they eat their food they will stop while they are eating and scrape their feet on the floor near their bowls or on the wall near their bowls. What is that? Is it normal? It looks so funny to me, but it looks weird.

The reason for the recall was the bad wheat gluten filler that Menu Foods got from a new supplier. The supplier has been replaced. That's great for Menu Foods BUT who else is that supplier supplying that bad filler to?????? That's a scary thought!

I have always fed my cats the best in wet cat food and specialised cat mince. However, at the moment, they won't eat it. All they want to eat is dry food. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I could try because I don't want them to eat just dry food, it doesn't seem right to me.
Should I try another brand of wet food?
Help, please.

She plays with her dish and any glass I leave out. She knocks over her bowl and the carpet is always wet. I can't leave a glass out because she'll knock it over and has already ruined a remote and several important papers. How do I break her of this? She knows better because she doesn't do it when I am home, only when I'm gone. Sometimes she paws at her water dish in front of me, but as soon as I get onto her she knows to stop. She also plays with the toilet water and drops her toys inside. It's no fun fishing cat toys out of the toilet if someone leaves the seat up. HELP!!

I'm getting him nuetured in 2 days and the vet said that it might not solve the problem of peeing all over the place. Has anyone else had this problem?? Please let me know if he will stop peeing in laundry baskets and my bed, or else I will have to get rid of him, regretably....I'm so sad.

My cat is 16 years old and in pretty good health (only a little arthritis to report which we are treating quite well with Cosequin, FYI). However, lately she has been exhibiting some strange behavior. For example, she has been sleeping in strange places, i.e. the dog's bed and inside the dog's crate. She has her own fluffy bed so I don't get it. Also, her and the dog don't particularly get along well so I can't imagine that she would want to nuzzle down for a nap in his bed. Moreover, she's never been a big fan of crates so this type of behavior has me a little worried. Is this the first signs of senility or is she just telling me she wants a new bed?

I have two cats. One is a male, 2 1/2 years old and neutered. The other is a 1 year old female that is not spayed. The one year old got out the other day and was gone until late tonight. When she left, she was in heat. She does not have any cuts or wounds, nor does she have fleas or ticks. However, I have kept her away from our other cat for fear of transmitted diseases. I am planning on taking her to the vet tomorrow morning, but how long will it take for any tests to come back for things like FIV and FeLV? I am sure my two cats want to see each other again. Am I being too paranoid? Does anyone know how expensive it is to get a cat tested for various things?

My cat just gave birth today to 2 beautiful kittens. One is an orange, and the other looks like a black and white cow. I am unusre about the sexes of the cats but i would like to get started on naming them. I'm looking for male/female duos, girl/ girl, and of course boy/boy. If anyone can help me I'd love it. Please don't limit yourself to common names, the more unique the better, especially if the duos have a cool story behind the names.

We have a 8 month old cat that got outside and it was lost in the snow for 4 days. We found him tonight he was a little sunken in and he ate well. We have his brother inside who was going crazy while he was lost.

I am wondering if he should go to the vet after surviving 4 days of negative temps. and snow? Can he get distemper or any other illnesses and bring them into our home to his brother or worse yet one of us? I have a 7 month old baby who adores this cat but I am afraid to let the baby play with the cat since it was out in that kind of weather incase he is ill or brought something back home.

So take him to the vet? Yes or no?

TIA!
