My 1 year old ragdoll cat has been diagnosed with advanced hcm (heart disese). there is no cure and the vet can't say how long he will live, he said 2 months to 1 year. I have paid $1600.00 in 3 days for diagnosis and treatment, that will make him more comfortable. I love him (alot) but am wondering if putting him to sleep would be justified or cruel?

My 15 year old cat died yesterday and I had him since he was a kitten. There is such a big hole in my home and my heart, but I don't want to be too hasty about getting another cat. So, how will I know?

I know she is pregnant and I dont want her to have them outside since she likes to go outside and I want to know where she has them so I can keep my kids away from them and be able to get them used to human contact so I can give them away when the time comes.

My kitten has a scab just under her right ear and hair missing from around the scab. (it is actually quite small) I don't know what could have caused it. Any ideas? The only new thing we have had in the house are daffodils which she has taken a liking to, but doesn't appear to have eaten... She is a house kitten....

With all this pet food recall scary news I would like to start to feed my cats with a healthy home made diet. Does anyone have some good recipes which can be fed long term without running the risk of mineral/vitamin deficiencies or overdosing?

since we picked him up .... do you think anything "fishy" was going on? That is the only part of his body he seems concerned with licking. He does not appear to be in pain.

The cat is also unusually quiet and unresponsive compared to before we took him there for the week... I'd hate to think they did something, but what other explanation is there?

This is a really awkward question/situation - is it worth asking my in-laws? My husband noticed too.... If he doesn't want to ask, should I? I mean, you should see the way this cat is going to town on himself!

She never has. She can only tolerate, me, my parents, one of my brothers, my cousin, and one of my best friends. Any one else she starts hissing. Or she just goes away. But the people she does like, she is very affectionate with. And We all love her to bits. She can be the biggest brat though... We have suspicions that she was abused as a kitten. She is terrified of brooms and vacuum cleaners, and her ears were slighty burned when we got her. We adopted her from the humane society. DO guys have any ideas why shes "exclusive"?

My kitten, who is now 10 months old (aprox) has recently stopped sitting on me and purring. She used to do this all the time, but now she will only play with me, and her small bites have become a little bit sharper. She's also spending a lot of time outside.
I'm not sure what's going on, is it just because she's getting older, or something else?
I miss her purring on me, and i miss our cuddles.
What can i do to get them back?

I have a 9 ½ year old cat. She has a lot of goofy habits, but her plastic fetish is really getting to me. She loves the plastic grocery bags. She will roll in them and lick them like they are made of catnip. Fortunately she has stopped peeing on them. However, she also likes the wrappers from sanitary pads. She will take them from the trash to play with. She carries them around the house. It is really disgusting! I have tried putting them in my larger trashcan, but she dumps that over to get them. This is the only time that she dumps the trash. I do not know how she can smell them.

Any ideas on what I can do, short of carrying them all the way downstairs each time to the dumpster?

One of my cats was attacked by another cat last year. She has completely recovered, but where she was injured it looks like dandruff on her fur. Should I take her to the vet?

I have a three year old male cat and a five year old girl cat. The boy is fixed, but the girl isn't. So whenever she's in heat, he's all over her, trying to hump her, and do whatever. I know I gotta get the girl fixed, its a money issue at the moment. But does anyone know why he's doing that? I thought when he got fixed I wouldn't have him doing this. He doesn't do this to the other girl cat (who is fixed), just the unfixed one. Thanks :)

She is soooo much better today.Sitting up, purring and trying to walk but all she can do is go in circles. The vet is saying it's normal with a head injury like hers. He predicts she will continue getting better and may go home tomorrow but could have a "little head tilt". Do you think he means she'll not be able to walk straight or that her head will just tilt to one side a little? I can't ask him until I go visit her tonight and wondered if anyone had any opinions.

Thanks, from a very worried mom.

I have 2 cats. They are from the same litter, only 10 months old. One is a healthy weight while I am starting to be concerned about the other's weight.
How can I put just one on a diet, when they eat in the same area?
When I am not home, they have to be separated from my dogs for their safety, so they cannot be separated from each other.
Any ideas?

They're very rare (it's a female gene), but sometimes it slips through. Anyone own one or know someone that does?
