One of my teacher's cats gave birth to four kittens, and my family has decided to adopt one (a female calico). We already have a six-year-old neutered domestic shorthair male, and he's been a single cat all of his life. Occasionally, we've brought him to our relatives, who have four other cats, and he seemed to get along fine -- it was the other cats who were frightened of him because of his large size. Nonetheless, I'd like some advice on how to introduce the two when the kitten is old enough to be taken away from its mother. I made sure that the kitten we're adopting is female because I hear male cats don't get along too well.

This is what I have been feeding my 10 cats. I wish I could afford better food, but I do the best I can. I have however stopped feeding them this food. Help! I have been feeding them all dry food, but they want their canned food back.

Ok so im on a cat question friendsy today after discivering this site. a few months ago i woke up to growling, i get up and see both my cats next to eachother stairing out the blinds and they wouldnt move, or aknowlege i was right there like they always do. so i immediately assumed it was another animal and im scared of raccoons and thats what i thoguth it might be so i woke my boyfriend up and he looked outside and said it was another cat. opened the blinds and then opened the door and i was scared my cats would run out and the cat outside came right up to my door and tried to swipe me and hissed at me so i hissed really loud back and it kept trying to fight me. i was like what the hell its the devil cat. then my cats FLIPPED out and started fihting, blood all over my walls, screaming, howling. i had to serperate them for 2 days because when they saw eachother theyd moan that really disturbing noise. they acted like they didnt know eachother. anyone else had this happen to them?

My cat is 15 years old and is in stage 2 (almost 3) of renal failure. He also has thyroid problems. Every two weeks he is losing another pound. He is now 7lbs. He is on a special diet of both wet and dry renal failure cat food with low protein. He doesn't want to eat it. The vet told us not to feed him anything but the special cat food because the protein will hurt him worse. My cat will sniff that food just cry and cry for something different food. The vet said there are appetite stimulants but he keeps putting off giving them to us. How much more weight can he lose? Should I just give him some regular food? Are there low protein regular foods that he could eat? Could I give him tuna juice which is even more watered down?

I have two cats(sisters). My cat Bumbaloo is loosing hair near her tail.I took her to the vet (300$) and they said it was fleas, so i got frontline, Ive been using it 2 months, they told me i might need to bomb the apartment becuse the fleas live in the carpet. I vaccumed the hell out of my carpet.NOW my other cat is slowly showing the same symptoms,Hair loss near tail, the hair is brittle because i heard the cats saliva weakens it when licked so much. I know someone with same thing and thought their cats were going to die,& started using a hydrocortizone spray(for cats) & some other stuff(forgot what) and now their hair is growing back. i am moving to a new place so it shouldnt have ANY fleas and if the problmem worsens i will have to take them both in again. it makes me mad bcuz if fleas arent the problem, he did an exam & just looked at it, how come no tests were done, so i can come in again and pay another 45 just for bringing the cat in? does/did anyone have this problem? Thanks

News is so useless. This is just like that anna nicole smith story or whatever. I read articles and articles of crap, listening to the story all over the place, and the whole time im thinking, why isnt anyone saying HOW SHE DIED! Most important part and it was pissing me off beyond belief.

This is the same thing. No one is saying what it was about the food that was causing these cats and dogs to have problems. Why the hell not? Is it some conspiracy or something? Idiots.

Anyways hopefully you guys know.

I adopted a stray female cat about 8 years ago. She was very skittish and fearful at first, so I have taken extra care to create a loving, secure home. She's very affectionate, loves attention and over the years has become much more secure. Several months ago, some neighbohood cats started stopping by my patio to apparently visit with my cat, who sits and looks out the french door. It appeared that the cats were stray, so I began to feed them. My cat doesn't like this, but seems to have adjusted. One of the cats is a sweet little female who is very people-friendly. My cat gets very upset if I show this cat too much attention. Occasionally, she has slipped inside when I open the door and my cat goes nuts. A few times my cat, unable to get to the other cat, has attacked me. I eventually had to establish dominance with her, which I don't like to do. Do you think she could adjust to the new cat if I adopt her and bring her inside? Or do some cats just need to be an "only cat"?

I would like to move the litter box my cats use to our laundry room , which is in the front of the house. The box is now in my husband's office, which is in the back of the house. The cats are about 2 1/2 and have never had any accidents or anything. I have heard that moving the box a little each day towards its new location is a good way; however, the way our house is laid out this would not be possible to do since it would have to go through a hallway, playroom, kitchen, dining room until it finally got to the laundry room. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

My dog was born in the US. I had all the proper shots/vet papers done for her in order for us to move to Germany. When it comes time for us to move back to the US, I'm wondering what the regulations/requirements regarding the move for my dog. I have heard mixed opinions--some say that she only needs to have a recent (within past 12 months but at least 30 days ago) rabies shot along with a health certificate signed by a vet within 10 days of arrival in the US. Others say she will have to be quarantined for 30 days. All my research points toward the former but I want to be sure. What are the requirements and what should I do to prepare to move to my dog back to the US?

Is anyone else upset by the latest info on the pet food recall that included the information: 6 out of 10 test animals who were fed the food died?
Didn't what has happened in the public, to innocent pets enough to prove "something" is wrong with the food? Why do other animals have to die to prove the point?
As with so many other instances, testing on some "lab animal" (translation: unimportant/unloved) is the easy way out. In the vast majority of times, the information can be obtained through computer models or good old fashioned lab work. What has the unnecessary death of these poor test animals proven that we didn't already know?
Another case of narrow minded research. Another case of innocents being tortured. A death from kidney failure is a painful one.

My cat was sick last week and threw up his food and then he seemed listless for a couple of days. He seems fine now but after hearing of the food recall I check my pouches and all of them were on the recall list. Should I take him to the vet?
