Both of my cats do. I say, "Excuse me, but do I come in and watch you while you use your litterbox? How about some privacy here?" Then they have to rush to the toilet when I flush it to see what's going on.
Only one is obsessed with the shower. The other doesn't make too much of a fuss, but the younger one darts into the shower once I step out so she can check the water. Perhaps it's the sound of the drain gurgling that fascinates her.
Whew, I thought it was just my cats that were weird, but this sounds like it's pretty common! OK, maybe my cats are still weird...

Yes, all four of them do... my tub is right beside the toilet too so its like the cat parade as they all walk by for a pet, and then jump in the tub for a drink.. so I turn the tap on for them. One of my cats is especially obsessed with the bathroom and she runs from wherever she is in the house and races into the bathroom and gets all loveable and happy, purring doing somersaults and rolling around in the tub.. she also gets in there and scratches in the corner and then jumps in the sink and does the same thing or just crouches in there purring like crazy.. when I take a bath 2 of them walk around the edge meowing and my dog likes to lick my arm and try and drink the bathwater... lol I cant go in there alone ever! They all whine at the door if I do, and my bathroom cat (as I call her) makes the weirdest whining noise ever if I close the door on her.. its like errr! err!! If I go to the door she stands up on her back legs and paws at me to let her in, even if I am not going to the bathroom if I even walk by there she gets all excited and does that in the corner of the door cause she wants in there...lol they are all goofs!

Yes, mine all follow me to the toilet and are curious (some have even followed my sister where she visits). A friend of mine says it's because cats can't understand why we would soil up a fresh water supply, which is probably right, it sounds logical. I have one that given the opportunity, will stick her head in the bowl to see what you're doing LOL.
There was a video on youtube, some folks kept getting a high water bill, it was the cat flushing the toilet and watching the water spiral around, clever cat! I can't find it now or I would link it.
EDIT: I found it, here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WofFb_eOxxA

They understand we are trapped there! and we will not leave for a jointly as.. so as that they make the main of our helplessness interior the only place interior the homestead they are able to consistently get center degree. Cats love being interior the limelight, and we could face it there not plenty else to do yet puppy the cat jointly as your on the rest room. this is the sole place interior the homestead the cat can do besides the fact that he desires to you and you in basic terms take a seat there..! For cats the washing room is the ideal room interior the homestead it has all their fashionable issues.. water, which they're the two enamoured of and repelled by using, sinks and tubs which they adore exploring or sitting in or sound asleep in or ingesting out of.. and persons, human beings doing attractive issues! I even have 4 cats and that i now and lower back choose i ought to bypass to the washing room on my own, yet all of them bypass to me while i'm in there and could paw under the door and claw to get in if I lock them out! 3 like ingesting out of the empty bath, one loves stretching and rolling on the mat and rubbing on my legs, 2 walk around the bathtub while i'm in it, and one headbutts me interior the top and purrs every time i'm in there.. they merely love the washing room! lol playstation I call my cat Pearl Ninja Cat, because of fact no count the place she is interior the homestead, in case you bypass to the washing room and close the door.. once you change around, she'll be there! She's so quickly you do not even see her run in there formerly you shut the door!

yeah, one cat in particular. Tobey always follows me into the bathroom when I get ready in the mornings and at night when I get home from work. If I accidentally lock him out, he will stand up on two feet and scratch at the door until I let him in. Then he jumps on the sink and looks at me through the mirror.

They follow me on occasion but don't sit there and watch, they usually use their litter box at the same time (it's in the bathroom). When they were babies I couldn't take a bath without them, they would sit on the edge of the tub and paw at the water.

i couldn't help but smile when i read the question.
i've always thought that my boyfriend's cat was a little on the odd side because she does this. For the past four years, just as soon as he sits on the toliet, his cat will come prancing in - without fail! We think it's because she (the cat) knows that he's in a "vulnerable" situtation, and he can't get to her. She'll walk right by him, and rub her body around his, wag her tail on her leg...very very cute!
oh, and she only does that to him...not to me.

one of my cats will get really pissed off if he is not let into the bathroom, he likes to jump in the tub or jump in the sink and drink from the leaking faucets.

My cat sleeps in the bathroom because its warm. (The water in the toilet is cold, so that might be another reason)
