My cat, Theo (who is nearly 1 year old now) used to love my boyfriend, Steven, who moved in with me 3 months ago. We took him about a month or two ago for vaccinations. Ever since then, Theo has become increasingly afraid of Steven, but he hasn't done anything to him that should make him afraid.

Theo has become so afraid, he'll defecate places other than his litter box. For instance, Steven was on the porch the other day, & Theo walked out there, saw him, hissed, ran off, then urinated and defecated on the carpet. Steven tried to pick him up to carry him onto the tile, & Theo kept doing it as he was being carried. He then cowered in it, getting it on himself, & we had to give him a bath, as on other occasions.

I can't find any reason Theo should be so fearful. Could it be the vaccination? Could it be the fact Steven was holding him at the vet? I don't know what to do. Increasing good experiences w/ him hasn't worked, so I told him to completely ignore Theo instead.

Help!

Hi! I have a kitty and she LOVES water! whenever I turn on the sink or bathtub she's in the sink/bath right away. Also I sometimes find her sleeping in the sink. I thought that cats didn't like water? Is this normal? And do you think that she likes water because she experienced it early? Thanks! *guppylover*

My less-than-year-old cat, like.........practically HUMPS my towel after I have a shower in the morning. He just rubs all over it.....very lustily. I feel dirty even talking about it.
All of our cats mark me after a shower by rubbing on me (how dare I wash off their scent...funny, but they don't mark my boyfriend), but only the kitten darn near mates with the towel.

My cat is a year old,but he still "nurses" my blankets or even my shirt. He kneads it and licks it like he's really nursing and its really annoying. He was not weaned early so I don't know why he does it,but its keeping him from sleeping in my bed! Any suggestions?

I have a cat that used t be the mst lovey cat ever, she was constantly on your lap and wanted to be pet, she has had 2 litters of kittens and since her first litter she has been a "*****" (sry about the language) but she growls whenever we try to pet her or one of the other cats goes near her. Unless she is in heat she is like this and once ina great while he ill get into our laps and roll over to have her tummy rubbed and then out of the blue start growling at us. Does anyone know what is wrong with her??

My cat was rescued as a kitten with her siblings (mom was hit by car). They knew nothing of the types of cats that the parents were.

My cat: brown tabby, with orange and white spots
Brother cat: orange tabby
Sister cat: pale gray tabby
Other sister cat: pale orange tabby

I was trying to find out the breed because I was trying to find out why my cat behaves the way she does. Someone asked if she was the Burmese breed. I started looking at websites tonight. I found all the characteristics of my cat under the Burmese breed on this website I've listed, but she looks like a normal American brown tabby (except her face looks different). The only thing she may not fit (as far as a Burmese goes) is that she doesn't feel like she weighs like a brick (read the breed on the link).

Any other suggestions than just guessing about her breed? Would it cost a lot to find out her breed (if there was a medical way)?

I have gotten to know 3 black cats quite well in my lifetime. The first was Dr. Katz, the second my baby Wicket, and the third my friend's cat Jada. All three prefer to drink water fresh from the tap. Does anybody else have a black cat that does this? I don't think it's odd that a cat would want fresh tap water (even though ours is so disgusting I wouldn't serve it to my worst enemy), but I find it odd that the three BLACK cats in my life have all loved to drink water from the tap.

Incidentally, for those of you following me this evening, I'm not sure why I'm asking all these cat questions. I just took my youngest to the vet this evening to be neutered tomorrow, but these questions are quite besides the point.

I have heard practically EVERYWHERE that you should keep your cat indoor at all times. Our 2 kittens stay inside for almost all of the time, but my mom is introducing them to the outside world so they can get used to it. She supervises them while they are outside, and our street isnt busy at all, but i still dont want them to get too used to going outside. WHenever I tell her that cats should be kept inside she says something like, "oh, well they need to experience the fresh air," or "they need to be free!" They arent strictly outdoor cats, but i still dont want them to be able to go outside and in whenever they please, it worries me! She just doesnt get that it isnt safe to let a cat do that! Who do you agree with in this situation, my mom or me?

ps they are 4 months old, both are fixed, and they are NOT declawed.

is it ok for cats to be able to go outside? by the way whenever they go outside now they are supervised because they are kittens, but later they will get to do watever

It was treated at the vet, hospitalized for a whole week with IV and Rx, etc, and tested for all other diseases, just had a liver problem and wouldn't eat, but getting vet's Rx pills and made major progress with enzyme levels, etc, but still have to force feed it. How long does force feeding last until the cat eats by itself ?

My kitty just came home from the vet today. She is pretty ticked off at having to wear a cone for the next 10 -14 days. She keeps her head down when she walks so I have already moved a lot of things out of her way that she gets caught on, rolled up my area rugs, blocked off the stairs etc. Only problem other than her being miserable is she can't really access her food. Anyone know of any makeshift dishes that I can use so she can eat? Any other advice to make this easier on her? Thanks in advance!

a few years ago i got a kitten and when he got older he would get on the counter or wherever we stored our loafs of bread and chew the bag to pieces and chew up the top of the bread and then leave it alone, he didn't consume the bread at all just..chewed it up. He lives outside now and we have another cat and she started doing the same thing! can someone explain this? or have any tips on preventing this? we've tried putting the bread in cabinets and everything but they still find their way into it.

My cat has gotten really sick after eating one of the recalled packets of special kitty. The first visit was over 140.00 and if she doesnt improve she will have to go back tomorrow for iv fluids. Does anyone know if the company is liable for this or not and if so how do I report my claim.

Hello,

I have a 18 year old cat named "Sadie" and I have noticed that she hasn't touched her iams dried cat food. She is over weight though. It just bothers me that she isn't eating. She is drinking a lot of water and moving around. She did lost a fang tooth the other day and my mom looked at her tooth and she said it looked like it was a dead tooth. Oh, her nose is really dried.

Could it be that her teeth are hurting her? Or maybe it's her time? If it's her time, Is there a way to tell? I had Sadie since she was a kitten. Can cats have the flu? I just hope the dried cat food isn't bad. They said it's not. But, how can you really tell?
