There's nothing wrong with it (as long as its not anything on the cat food recall list!). Tuna sometimes is the best choice to try to get a sick cat to eat, because cats rely on their sense of smell when eating and tuna has a strong smell that appeals to most cats. I've only ever seen one cat who hated tuna (and only one that liked tuna but was allergic to fish products) I often have soaked dry food in hot water and added the tuna juice from the can when I'm opening a can of tuna for my own use. The juice mixes into the soaked food and makes it even more tasty!
Some cats do love to swim and fish! Check out the pic at the top of the page on this site for the Turkish Van breed, a breed with one major distinguishing characteristic being a love of the water and swimming! http://www.freedom.co.za/vans/

Every now and then as a treat is fine, but you will need to be wary as cats can become addicted to tuna and won't eat anything else. Sometimes if they're sick, and you need them to eat, eating is more important so you can give them tuna if that's all they will tak.
Why is too much Tuna (or other fish) not good for cats? Firstly because of the pollutants where the fish may have been caught. These can be heavy minerals such as lead or mercury which will make the cat really sick. The other is because too much fish can cause Yellow Fat Disease (steatitis) which is a Vitamin E deficiency. Cats absolutely have taurine in their diet & fish doesn't provide this in sufficient amounts, as opposed to red meat which is a lot higher in taurine..

There's nothing wrong in giving your cat a can of tuna fish, I always give it to mine, you buy it in cat food all the time, but they get the full taste of the tuna

Cats love it and once in awhile it is not bad for them. Just makes sure it is tuna in spring water and not in oil. I think some big pet stores sell special tuna for cats (they sell special milk for cats too).

I think it is probly fine as long as you don't over do it. Fish is a natural food for cats, but if given straight tuna too often they might get picky and not want to eat other things that are good for them too.

Every once in awhile (like when you're making a tuna sandwich) you can give your cat a little treat, but I wouldn't give them much on a regular basis. Not completely nutritionally balanced. I knew someone who swore her Siamese said "Tuuuuuunaaaa" whenever she heard the can opener!

No way, I don't even buy them fish flavored treats. There's a reason fish makes them stink so bad, it's not good for them. Cats don't fish in the wild, they don't like water. They'd never come across a fish let alone a great big TUNA if they were outside.
When my cats come to me to demonstrate their fishing skills, we'll discuss it. Until then, no dice.

A little tuna doesn't hurt, but make sure it's not an every day thing because tuna contains high levels of mercury - which is harmful to people too. :)

Recent article I read in the news said that the levels of mercury in ALL fish were getting so high it was becoming a problem - I'd give it a tiny bit only as a treat now and agasin until it's sorted out.
