I recently got a 3 month old boy kitten to keep my 7 month old girl company. The first few days i kept them separated and got them used to each others smell and allowed them to meet for short periods of time only. There was a fair amount of hissing, but no violence. Now, it is almost 2 weeks, and they are fine together- playing with each other, and eating together. but they won't tolerate being near to each other if it's to sleep or relax (either one will run off and make themself comfortable somewhere else). I have tried to get them to groom each other by putting some cream on the other one, but this only works while the cream is there! Anyone has any other suggestions for how to make them feel more comfortable around each other so that they sleep together and groom each other?

I have a 20 week old kitten and im cautious about allowing her out. There are so many dangers out there and we have a main road not far from us. I have heard people talk about Cat Harnesses, i like the fact that you can keep her indoor but still make sure she has some safe freedom but surely people must get some funny looks walking a cat. Does anyone actually take their cats for walks and if so what kind of reaction do you get from passerbys.

I think they are sooooo ugly, nasty, aggresive dogs that the world could do without!

I really do not see the appeal at all. (Shiver. Chihuahuas are better..)

I am looking to buy a cat ladder so that my cats can enter and leave the flat through the window (which is about 1.5m above ground). Where in the London area would I get something like that? I don't seem to find it in pet stores or IKEA etc.
Thanks for your answers.

i ask my vet to trim my cats nails for me i am affraid to do it being taht im a new cat owner and dont want to cut them to short. my vet told me he wont cut them cause everytime u cut there nails they get sharper. he siad he would be happy to remove his nails though. um i though declawing a cat specialy at the age of 4 is not a good thing and they might become defiant.

My cat was spayed in December but in the last couple of weeks she's exploded like a pregnant cat and that can't be possible. She's very affectionate, eats like she's starving and her stomach has exploded to 3 times it's normal size. I don't know what else could cause those symptoms but she's an indoor cat and hasn't ever been outside. Any thoughts?

My new cat doesn't walk to her litter box... she's 4 month old and i just got her from my friend 2 days ago. I have her bed and food in my room but the litter box in the bathroom that's connected to my room. It uses the litter box but she wont walk there unless i carry her to it, so far she hasn't pooped or peed anywhere else (atleast i dont think / smell anything) but it kinda weird to have to carry her to her litter box all the time :/ any idea how to train her to go there automatically when she needs to go?

I haven't really been watching the news since I first heard about this escapade. Is the illnesses from the wet food, the dry food or both? I usually only feed my cat store brand dry food but sometimes the store brand wet stuff. I'm worried about her, shes only 7 months old.

Have you changed brands? If so, which do you feel safe with? I have a Himalayin female, and had been feeding her Nutro Naturals...which thank goodness wasn't the particular dates on the list, but I'm still not comfortable giving it to her. I still have the dry food by Nutro. This is all so frustrating, as I thought I was buying one of the best foods for her, and now this! The breeder I got her from feeds her cats raw meat..along with dry food..I've never done that, any advice for that? Thanks for you help!

I am at my wits end with this cat. I have contemplated shooting it with a BB gun, or putting out a tasty bowl of antifreeze for it to drink. I would like, however, to avoid any sort of legal ramifications involved with the killing of this cat. May I capture this cat and transport it far away without any sort of legal consequence? It does not appear to have any sort of collar indicating it to be domesticated, however it does not appear to be wild/feral or afraid of people. I can see the bastard sitting down there now, making obnoxious noises for no reason. For legal reference, I am located in Cincinnati, OH, in the United States. Please help, and possibly save a cat's life.

My cat has an extra claw on one of her front paws. It is not shaped the same as the rest. I cannot tell where the quick is. It grows like a normal claw. Just wondering if I should go ahead and clip it or not. I can't afford to take her anywhere right now, and it dosen't seem to bother her. Should I risk it? I don't want to hurt her.

"The Cat Fanciers' Association recognizes that scratching is a natural behavior of cats and that cats may be defenseless without full use of their claws if they, either intentionally or unintentionally, go outdoors. Scratching damage to household furnishings can be minimized or avoided by routine clipping of the claws, the use of claw covers and by redirecting the cat's activity to acceptable surfaces.
CFA perceives the declawing of cats (onychectomy ) and the severing of digital tendons to be elective surgical procedures that are without benefit to the cat. Because of the discomfort associated with any surgery and potential future behavioral or physical effects, CFA disapproves of routine declawing surgery in lieu of alternative solutions to prevent household damage. In certain situations, including high risk of injury or disease transmission to owners with bleeding disorders or compromised immune systems, declawing may be justified in order to maintain their perceived bond.

My cat had been having diarrhea for a few days, so he stopped getting wet food as per vet's orders. Now he gets dry only--but he did get a little bit of my Chinese food the other night--two nights ago. (He ate some beef and chicken, both with sauce--know he shouldn't have.) Can he actually get sick two nights later?

Now I will be extra vigilant--thought he was all better, but obviously his tummy is more sensitive than it used to be. And no, he wasn't eating any of the food that has been recalled.
