My cat had been having diarrhea for a few days, so he stopped getting wet food as per vet's orders. Now he gets dry only--but he did get a little bit of my Chinese food the other night--two nights ago. (He ate some beef and chicken, both with sauce--know he shouldn't have.) Can he actually get sick two nights later?

Now I will be extra vigilant--thought he was all better, but obviously his tummy is more sensitive than it used to be. And no, he wasn't eating any of the food that has been recalled.

just to clarify-- I'm wondering more if he can get sick two nights after the fact (as opposed to right away or one day later) more than if he can get sick from Chinese food, which is obviously true. . . which makes me stupid for feeing it to him.

maybe, yes i know how hard it is, i have five "beggars", kitty needs to stay w/hard food, no people food. kities get sensitive stomachs, esspecially as they age.
greens, like grass, might help.

I don't know, but it is difficult to get a cat to stop having diarrhea if they've had it for some time. When my cat had that problem the vet suggested feeding him boiled hamburger with a little rice and and a little bit of plain yogurt for the active cultures. It took a while, about a week,. Cat's can't tolerate cow's milk , but the active cultures fix that. Also the active cultures are most like the bacteria that is supposed to aid digestion, which helps tremendously, because diarrhea strips the intestines of those beneficial bacteria.

No body likes diarrhea, and I know that yogurt trick works ( 9 times out of 10). Nobody likes running to the bathroom every 10 minutes, so if you have it once you want it to stop. If you have it once, eat some yogurt and it does not repeat.

Good luck with your cat

yes... that is possible. Chinese food has a lot of spices that can iritate a cat's tummy. Guess he won't be getting anymore of Chinese take outs from now on. He'll be fine.

It could be that. most definitely , but it also could that something in the dry food can not be agreeing with its tummy, I myself have a cat who cant eat corn , which is in most of the dry food available, =) his name is Shitty Kitty
