I recently got a 3 month old boy kitten to keep my 7 month old girl company. The first few days i kept them separated and got them used to each others smell and allowed them to meet for short periods of time only. There was a fair amount of hissing, but no violence. Now, it is almost 2 weeks, and they are fine together- playing with each other, and eating together. but they won't tolerate being near to each other if it's to sleep or relax (either one will run off and make themself comfortable somewhere else). I have tried to get them to groom each other by putting some cream on the other one, but this only works while the cream is there! Anyone has any other suggestions for how to make them feel more comfortable around each other so that they sleep together and groom each other?

They might just prefer their own space when sleeping. People do that too. Just give them time. If they are getting along for the majority of the day with no hostility, I wouldn't force them to be that close.

i wouldn't force them I'm sure they will get used to eachohter and start sleeping together on there own. its only been two weeks, just keep doing what u have been doing. sounds like u are doing the right thing on getting them to know eachohter. just keep trying the cream thing. but don't force them. its like humans u cant make us like someone right away, we kinda have to warm up to the person and get to know them. but good job, gave me some ideas on helping my cat get along with others

it can't be rushed, and cats have to take their time about it. I have three cats, and at first, they hated eachother. Now they groom eachother all the time. We breed cats and i remember at first all the hissing, but it just take time and patience. Just wait and it should come.
GOOD LUCK!

leave them alone and let them get used to each other naturaly! Our male cat does that to the female's head...and when she gets tired of him grooming her she hisses, smacks him and walks away...we didn't force them to be like that...Just let them be!
