She keeps scratching at this spot, and it is starting to get a little red. My vet is closed and the surgery happened earlier today. Is this where they put the anesthia and IV in or should I call the vet first thing tomorrow?

my cat used to eat soft food and her soft food is on the list of tainted cat food. how far back does the tainting go? A year? A week? Should I be worried? She stopped eating the soft food in about November of 2006.

Just read the story and the article mentioned "the company that produced the food", not the actual brand name. Does anyone know which company it is?

I am moving into a studio apartment and would like to get a cat. The problem is that I don't know where I can put the litter box! I have a small closet with a washer/dryer, but not much room inside for much else. If you live in a studio and have a cat, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

In the past I had a bad experience adopting a kitten from a shelter. I would like 2 kittens, perhaps a brother and sister, that were born indoors. Anyone know where is the best place to start looking???

My cat is nearly a year old now, and as long as I've had her, she hasn't started bathing (licking) herself. She can get kind of stinky. I can't afford to take her to a groomer. Should I bathe her? How often should I do it? Is it okay to bathe her in the shower? ( I don't have a tub). Thanks!

Okay. So, I have read many opinions about declawing cats. I have heard insults from both sides of the fence. "Declawing is bad and inhumane!" "Declawing is lazy!" But what do you do when the two year old cat that you love (and have had since he was 6 wks old) decides to use your children and dog (a big ole lab) as a scratching post? No one grabs his claws and says "No claws" because all he would do is scratch the daylights out of your face! Now, I don't know many people who would adopt such an agressive cat. I don't want to give him up (because they would probably just destroy him) and he is strictly an inhouse cat. Would you all suggest I take him to a shelter? Or declaw him? Or just squirt water at him as he rips through my sons chest! I don't know what to do anymore. I love my cat but my kids and my dog are constantly being scratched by him. He doesn't scratch me. But the kids and my dog are his prey. I'd love to hear some suggestions.

I found out this morning that my favourite cat Thomas was dead, after he'd obviously been hit by a car last night, or early this morning. I had tried to call him in at 8pm, but he didn't come...so it may have already happened by then. My partner found him next to the road on his way to work, so whoever hit him had obviously moved him.

Will these distraught, empty, sad feelings pass? I can't eat, and I'm bursting into tears every five minutes. I miss him so much, and keep expecting to feel him come up to nudge me whilst I'm sitting down. He was only 11 months, and has left behind our older cat, and his brother from the same litter...both of which are currently huddled together, as if they know something is wrong. I feel guilty as if I should've been able to prevent it, but there was nothing I could do....I just hope he doesn't feel that I've failed him in some way.

The question I am not sure how to answer is this. Do you mind if we call your Vet and ask how you take care of your animals? My parents have two dogs.I was denied a cat cause the dogs weren't up to date on their vacinations. My one dog is almost 17.
They don't ask to list your pets but if they call my vet then the vet would tell them about dogs. Would they ask if my dogs are up to date on vacinations or just how well we take care of them.
Please help me.
Thanks

My calico female cat prances in place with just her front paws for awhile before she decides to laydown. This has just started a few months ago & she will be 7 years old this July. She keeps her claws well trimmed with all of the scratching devices we have for her & if one of those claws are a little out of hand in length, I do trim it.

I have a golden retriever and he is really friendly so he wont be a problem but I have a little dog whos 8 y/o and is very very territorial with any animal. She thinks she's like the boss or "pack leader." The kitten I'm getting is from a breeder who has dogs so they're used to dogs in the house but my dog worries me. How could I make it so they won't go into each others throats.

I have a cat and a dog, and one of them keeps peeing on things in my house when I am not home >:( To be able to resolve this issue, I need to know which one of them is doing it. Is it true that cat urine will glow under a black light while dog urine will not?

Shed jst b sittin there wen all of a sudden she'd start to twitch really bad then she'd one outta the room or mayb jst a coupla feet n start to scratch herself or "bite" herself. Sumtimes she does this multiple times n sumtimes its jst one times. I think she might hve fleas but she's nvr been outta the house n she's nvr come in contact w/ othr animals. Is it possible she has fleas or is my cat jst weird?

She is a 7 yr old spayed himalayan that I have had since she was a kitten. She used to pee every once in a while on the carpet but now she is doing it on a regular basis. She also never used to poop outside the litter box but she is doing that now too. I have caught her peeing on the counters, on my bed and on the floor!! And she poops where ever she wants too. I dont want to get rid of her but I dont want a cat destroying my home or my furniture!! I made a vet appt but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestions.
