It's not a terribly good brand.

I don't recommend "free feeding" - it can lead to obesity if your cats aren't self-regulated.

And in spite of the recalls, canned food is far superior to dry.

I'm giving you all my links for your reading enjoyment. But if you read nothing else, read why cats need canned food and what to feed - that contains a list of the best foods - none of which are on the list.

The amount sounds fine, but Whiskas is not a very good brand. Nothing you buy at the grocery store or Petsmart is a good brand. You need to find a natural or specialty pet store in your area to find the really good brands of food. Low quality foods contribute to obesity, poor coat quality, excess shedding, tooth decay, liver and kidney problems, fatty tumors, and early death.

Good brands to look for: Artemis, Chicken Soup, Wellness, Merrick, Innova Evo (probably the best brand out there), Fromm, Verus, Timberwolf Organics, Eagle, Felidae, Solid Gold, Professional.

i use purina it is a good brand formly friskies it is not as rich as whiskas. i know recommend amout here in the uk is 400g wet or 200g wet and 1/2 a cup of dry or any combination in ratio my measurements are uk don't know conversions. i personally feed my two cats 2 pouches of soft food and adlib biscuits my two are not obese my male is 5kg and is a large cat my female is 3.3kg and is dainty compared to my male. at the moment though as my female is prgenant i am feeding soft food about 5 times a day but they have to share the packet and still adlib the biscuits. if your cats are happy leave alone apart from increasing the soft food up a bit and don't mix biscuits in as they get biscuits anyway. hope this helps

Well the cats probably don't like the food, or they don't like where the food is or is in. You might want to try and see if moving the food to a different spot would work out. Then, if not, go shopping. But 1 can of each food and new cat bowls.

Everyone will have their own opinion on free-feeding. Unless they look overweight, I'd say you're doing fine.

Whiskas isn't the greatest stuff out there, but it's not the worst, either. Consider upgrading to Nutro, Science Diet, or Blue Buffalo.

we use Iams, and the vet said at 6 months they can eat 9 oz of food a day...we give her two 3 oz cans of wet food and then she eats dry food. (once in a while I cave and give her three)

check out this website and make sure your brand isn't on the list because it could be tainted with rat poison and ANY amount WILL kill your pet..please check so that there will be no more losses...
