In the past I had a bad experience adopting a kitten from a shelter. I would like 2 kittens, perhaps a brother and sister, that were born indoors. Anyone know where is the best place to start looking???

The shelter kitten we adopted gave my resident cat bacteria when he scratched her, which caused a infection called sepsis. Then within that week my resident cat died. I will never go thru a shelter again. My first resident cat i was lucky enough to get through a family.

Also I live in New Jersey, and we have a 9 day trip to jamaica planned in april, so we are not looking for kittens until after April 23rd.

If you don't like shelter kittens, a breeder is your best bet. However thats pricey. I think shelters are fine, considering I volunteer at one. You just need to find the right cats for you. Make sure you are able to spend some time with them at the store or whereever, so you can see how they play react etc. Don't buy on cuteness lol. Petfinder is also a good place to start, find the shelters in your area, or the rescue groups, etc. Good Luck!

It depends where you are. I was once a volunteer of FOLAS in NJ and I got a female kitten born from this shelter. Check around your area for honest and reputable shelters; these are usually the non-profit ones. Most households who didn't spay/neuter their cats and had kittens would surrender these kittens in shelters. FOLAS for one accepts them. Check the websites in www.petfinder.com.

I have four 3 week old kittens. They sure are cute! one calico female, 2 black and white cuties (one male, one female) with white paws, and a tubby near black male with just a little bit of white)

Do you live near Florida by any chance?

I would check out your vet. Most vets have bulletin boards set up with people that need homes for pets. They are probably good pet owners if they went through a vet!

Best of luck!

Try your local news paper. Normally, there are plenty of advertisements for free kittens.
