I am moving into a studio apartment and would like to get a cat. The problem is that I don't know where I can put the litter box! I have a small closet with a washer/dryer, but not much room inside for much else. If you live in a studio and have a cat, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I keep my litter box in the bathtub. Just don't let the litter go down the drain. My neighbor had an old end table with doors. She left the doors closed and took out a side panel, then slid the litter box right in. If you turn the opening toward a corner or wall, no one will know. Be sure to keep everything clean & use baking soda for a deodorizer, Also check with a vet about what to feed the kitty because of the recall on cat & dog food, which contains rat poison. Good luck!

My friends, although they have a large house, built an enclosed bench (but you could buy something similar) and put a swinging door at one end that goes into the bench. That's where they put the cat box. The bench is like a seat, and that top part swings up to access the storage area. That's where they access the cat box, to clean it out.

You might be able to get some sort of ready-made cabinet of some sort from IKEA, Target etc... and use it. The place where the cat enters doesn't have to have a door.

They have this bench thing in their dining area and no one can tell by looking at it, that there are cat boxes inside.

I don't live in a studio, but the Drs. Foster and Smith catalog has a lot of really nice enclosed litter boxes. They just look like furniture, so at least it would not be looking at an open cat box. You can check them out on line at drsfostersmith.com.

Im sure you have cabinets under your kitchen sink area. Just remove one of the doors and you can place the box in there. It should fit nicely and it wont be in anyones way. Keep an air freshener in there at all times to keep any odor down.

Also, since you live in such a small place, I hope you at least have a climbing tree for your baby to play on. They do still need some exercise and the floor to ceiling trees dont take up much space at all.

Try a covered litter pan, one with a little door. Use a clumping litter made especially for small spaces. Both will help eliminate any odor. This way you can place anywhere that it's out of your way, not just a bathroom.

if you have a bathroom put in there. where ever you place it will need to be quiet and out of the way. there is no reason that you can't keep a cat in a studio apartment. they might be different in the USa to UK where we are mostly self contained but i did keep to cats in a studio flat and they were fine and happy.
