The question I am not sure how to answer is this. Do you mind if we call your Vet and ask how you take care of your animals? My parents have two dogs.I was denied a cat cause the dogs weren't up to date on their vacinations. My one dog is almost 17.
They don't ask to list your pets but if they call my vet then the vet would tell them about dogs. Would they ask if my dogs are up to date on vacinations or just how well we take care of them.
Please help me.
Thanks

I can see how a question like this can get kind of complicated it would really depend on assuming the vet would answer this question based purely on the animals best interest and not on a business marketing or Association rule basis.

I do not think they will ask real specific questions nor do I think the vet clinic could really answer them unless it was proven that you had in the past been accused or found guilty of animal abuse.

Simply not having your pets current at all times on vaccines could hardly be considered abusive, many cats and dogs that go to naturpathic clinics get vaccines every 3+ years and are considered current by that vet but possibly not by your vets policies. Also many owners and breeders give their own vaccines or go to many different vets and have little or no documentation. So I would not worry unless there is more to this.

Are you going to be the "owner" (over eighteen I think) of the cat? Then you can say you have never owned a cat before and there is not vet to call (which is the truth). If your parents will be the resonsible party in making the adoption then their history with pets may make them questionable as far as a good home is concerned. Most oldercats are NOT vaccinated and I still think that dogs may be because of the law.

I don't know how you can prove yourself acceptable as an adoptor if you have no history of animal ownership. I do know as a person having done shelter adoptions for over ten years that shelters feel their animals are "second-chance" cats and dogs and want to feel sure that they will never again have to go through losing their homes or not be treated for injuries or medical conditions they might have in future.
