I'm in the Pacific NW in Canada.

I just heard on the news that the wet cat food recall is due to RAT POISON being found in the food? It was identified in the New York area. Have any of you heard this???

P.S. My kitty does not eat any of the brands identified, but I am still v.v. cautious.

we bought a kitten from petsmart/clark county human society on 2-12-07. sign said neutered, fip/feline leuk neg. well on
2-22-07 took to vet for neuter,on 3-21-07 had to be put to sleep from having f.i.p(feline infectious peritonitis). do we have legal recourse? should i call shelter to alert them to the possibility of more f.i.p. cases?

Unfortunately I awoke this morning to another dead kitten. And as you probably guessed, it was the runt. But what's strange is just two hours before it died I checked on them and even positioned its mouth onto the nipple, and it was feeding. The other two are looking fine but I don't want to wake up to another dead one tomorrow morning. So should I just strat bottle feeding the other two now to be cautionary so they won't die? Or just wait it out and check on them every few hours or so to mske sure they are still feeding and the mother is allowing them to?

Thanks.

I just got a cat about a week ago. She is about 2, recently had kittens (before I got her) and she was spayed at the shelter on March 1. She has this little spot underneath her ear that is perfectly round with no hair. I would say it's a little less than 1/2 ince in diameter. It's not red or flaky like if she had ringworm.... In fact the skin looks perfectly healthy, no scar or anything, just no hair-- and no sign that hair will grow there?? Anyone have any idea what it is? It looks healthy so I don't feel much concern, just a little curious... Thanks!

I have ants in my apartment and I want to get rid of them. however, I also do have a cat and Im weary of using any kind of ant traps or sprays because I do not want to harm my cat. Does anyone know of any kind of home remedies to get rid of the ants? The ants do not have access to my cats food because it is in airtight container so that is not the problem.

My new kitten is about a year old and my three other cats are seniors now (6 to 7) and reacted against the new kitten when I introduced them. I had a seperate litterbox for the kitten in my room but it's been almost three weeks since I adopted him. So I moved his litterbox near the others and he understands where it is but the others hiss at him whenever he tries to use it.

This morning the kitten had an accident on my bed. (The last cat I adopted, he's the youngest of the three I've had before the new kitten, has been extremely jealous and has gone as far to hit, and bite him.) My kitten wanted to leave my room and use the litterbox but my tabby kept hissing at him and my kitten was too afraid to leave my room and urinated on my leg while I was sleeping.

I don't know what to do and I don't want to give him away since he was adopted and a stray twice before. Is this just a time issue on accepting each other or something else?

I have a dog and two cats. One of my cats is really smart and one is dumb as a door nail. The dumb one is very affectionate and not afraid of anything. The smart one is very skittish, I think because she understands that the world is a scary place. Well here is my proof of her intelligence. She isn't tricked by herself in the mirror she sniffs it realizes its not alive and moves on, whereas the dumb one will try and play with it and jump into the mirror. She gives a paw and sits for treats. She is a superior jumper, the other one is not. And lastly the other cat and the dog don't recognize my voice on the phone. Whereas Mojo will sniff and rub the phone and cry because she misses me. She also takes care of all of us, she is very concerned if any of us is in pain or upset. Anyway is she super smart or am I just biased?

I have a 5 mth old Brittish Short Haired Kitten, We purchased when 10wks old from registered breeder, the conditions at the cattery were filthy He cost $300. Then about 10 days ago he started limping and then within 48 hours couldn't walk, wouldn't eat or drink and was very sick. In that time my daughter and I also got sick, After 2 days in at vet hospital (and $690 of fees) many tests we now have results that say the kitten has toxoplasmosis. Our cat has never gone outside EVER, we feed whiskers cat food and dry food and water and milk, no raw meat The vet said it could have been born with it and his mother could have had the disease and passed it on and then the (whatevers) have hatched and grown in the kitten. He cannot walk, drags himself along ground with front paws, is on strong antibiotics, cant poo. Can I sue the breeder? Does anyone know if my cat will survive? Me + kids are very upset and its so very sad to watch him be like it. We also have to have blood tests too

He loved the sound it made. He was 12 and acted like a kitten always. He died of a massive tumor suddenly. It was crushing his lungs making it difficult to breath. As a tribute to him I am showing him off. Thanks to all you animal lovers! Have a great day.

I adopted 4 cats from one home. I have placed 2. The orange and white male (declawed), smacks the other cats. He can't hurt them. I want to find him a home. At this point, he will have to be an "only cat". He is sweet, flopping down and turning over so I can scratch his belly. He answered to a terrible name when I took him in or I would change his name to Rocky. I have tried squirting him with water. I am looking on the web for solutions.

She freaks out and looks around furiously until she finds it. When she finds it, she calms down and she starts kneeding it with her paws and starts purring. Is this kind of weird?
