I have a dog and two cats. One of my cats is really smart and one is dumb as a door nail. The dumb one is very affectionate and not afraid of anything. The smart one is very skittish, I think because she understands that the world is a scary place. Well here is my proof of her intelligence. She isn't tricked by herself in the mirror she sniffs it realizes its not alive and moves on, whereas the dumb one will try and play with it and jump into the mirror. She gives a paw and sits for treats. She is a superior jumper, the other one is not. And lastly the other cat and the dog don't recognize my voice on the phone. Whereas Mojo will sniff and rub the phone and cry because she misses me. She also takes care of all of us, she is very concerned if any of us is in pain or upset. Anyway is she super smart or am I just biased?

There are alot of smart cats out there. I think your cat is just lucky enough to have someone who 'listens' to her. You two must be very tuned in to each other, that is why she responds to your phone calls. That is so adorable. One of my cats is like that and the other one is in her own little world. I just had a major surgery and my cat "Bitty" is very attentive to me. She hardly ever uses the litter box she goes to the door and stretches up the wall to cue me to let her outside to potty. Or she will flick the mini blind. Hardly anyone notices how smart a cat can be. Nice cat name by the way, my little Mojo passed away 3 yrs ago. : (

You're obviously biased. Maybe you should look for some good in your lesser cat.

Also as for the phone, the others could realize that it's you, yet realize you're not in the room so it's not important, whereas your smart one is trying to go in it or get you out from the sounds of it heh.

Also, your dumb cat may realize that the mirror image is fake, cats normally do, but be interested in playing with it for fun. She's making her own amusement!

Lastly, smarts aren't the only measure of greatness.

So don't be biased!

Congratulation for the smart cat.!!
Yes she is indeed clever.!
Some are born smarter than others, just like we humans.!!

I have a very clever Bengal kitten too.
I have taught to walk with me in the park on a leash.
Sit and fetch, play catching and hide and seek and can jump about almost 6 feet high now.
Still trying other new tricks.
So enjoyable to do that.!!!

You should also do that since your kitty is so clever.

Good luck !!!

Kudos to you for acknowledging it. I adopted two kittens last year, brothers, look like twins. One is laid back and dumb as a stump, bless his heart, the other one watches what you're doing and tries to do it. He can unwrap a straw without tearing the paper to pieces, tries to turn the door knob and open doors, can somehow stretch his entire body from my sink counter top to about 2 feet from it, to retrieve a make-up brush stucking out of a cup, sitting on a shelf, without knocking anything over inthe process. He will shut doors, he even closed the pantry door one time when my husband was in there - he started yelling at me until he came out and saw me on the couch and the cat sitting there looking at him. His brother, could care less about life, just chills and takes in the view - Laid back as they come, but so sweet and loving. Your cat is just perceptive, be thankful or sometimes, not so much. Sometimes I wish mine would just lay back and enjoy the sunshine instead of trying to contemplate ways to take over the universe.

And as for the phone, the one you think is dumb, could actually just not care that it is you. Not to sound snide, but sometimes I know my cats hear me and they act like I'm a million miles away, sometimes, they just aren't interested. It's a cat thing.

But each has his own personality and each one holds his own special place in my heart. I'm glad they are different, I wouldn't want them to act the same, it would be boring.

Best of luck!

Your pets have different personalities, thats all. It seems the 'smart' one is particularly a people cat. I have found that cats have preferences as to whom their favorite people are. Some are men's cats and will jump up on a man's lap or rub on his legs and listen better to a man's voice. They pay little attention to ladies The ladies cat would rather have a lady pet them and pay more attention to the female voice.
Some are just lovers and want the world to love them. They will cling to everybody who gives them a scratch under the chin. You have a nice group of pets that have found out how to get along with each other. congratulations!!!

Haha! You are describing my two cats. My male is friendly, affectionate, laid back (ok, lazy). My female is shy and skittish with strangers, but incredibly smart and playful around us. She fetches her toys like a dog, understands commands, and is very demanding of our attention. Of course all cats are different, but based on my experience working with cats, I'd say generally males (especially neutered) are more laid back and females are more in your face and high strung.

Both!

Of course you're biased, but Mojo seems like a very smart kitty!

You think it's smart to be afraid all the time?
