She freaks out and looks around furiously until she finds it. When she finds it, she calms down and she starts kneeding it with her paws and starts purring. Is this kind of weird?

Is her name Linus? lol

No she's not weird at all and it's kind of sweet. My cat has a thing for wool. She has my son's old knitted blue's clues gloves, she carries them around the house, she often dumps them anywhere and I find them on the table, in the litterbox, you name it. She lost them when they somehow ended up in my son's toybox. She suffered depression, we couldn't work out what was wrong and we had numerous vet visits. I sorted through the toys one day and found them, depression cured!

No this is not weird. My 6 month old kitty is attached to one of my pillows. He will look all over the house until he finds it. If my fiance or I are sleeping on it he will make room for himself on it even if that means we get kicked of the pillow. I think it's too cute when he does this.

Not at all. I have a cat who has a stuffed toy she carries around with her and done so for about 5 years. It's a comfort to her.

My Dudley will get a sock out of the laundry, if he doesn't find the sock drawer open. He "talks" to it very loudly, brings it to the room I am in, lies down and starts kneading it. This occurs in the evening hours. Please, don't lose her blankie.
Especially if you move. When I moved, I would get a sock out for D., so he could better adjust to the new place.

How cute, your kitty has a security blanket! My cats love bedding, not one blanket in particular .

No, it's not unusual or weird. Some cats (and other animals/people) love their "security blankets" or favorite toy. Don't throw it away, she'll get mad :-)
