Cats - March 2007

I noticed that we were starting to get ants. I use this product called Terro to kill them. The ants eat it and take it back to their colony and it kills them. I put it under the dishwasher and under the stove where my kitty can't get to it. But my cat likes to eat the ants and I was wondering if he eats an ant that has eaten the Terro if it will hurt him?

I used to feed my cats Nutro, but with all of this recall stuff I am going holistic. The lady at Pet Valu recommended this, but I am wondering if it is their stores brand name.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

She's had excessive vomiting, drinking unusual amounts of water, lethargic. I have had her to the vet twice. Her blood work came back normal. But her termperature is 99.3 and blood pressure was 208. She eats either 9 Lives or Friskies canned ground food and Purina Sensitive Stomach dry food.

the kitten is over a mth old when she was born she was born in orange liquid and no sac,but she has been ok until now,but now she is so thin and weak we have tried feeding her on our own as the mother will not but she is so limp and today she pooped and couldnt move just laid there,is there anything else we can do to help her..please help me..thank you

Hi, I am absolutely devastated my 16yr old persian was pawing at his mouth so i took him to the vet and we thought he had an abcess but when the vet sedated him and removed the tooth he found a tumor which turns out to be cancerous and they cant give him any treatment because his kidneys aren't great. After the surgery we got special mushy cat food and he was wolfing it down but yesterday and today he wont eat anything, apart from not eating he is still really sprightly, I know he will maybe have to get put down at some point but he doesnt seem in pain, (he had a pain injection that lasts a month) and is really sooky but he just wont eat. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated, I was thinking of feeding him with a syringe but dont want to force it.
He was only diagnosed on Friday.

Hi, i have always had dogs in the past and i have just got a 8 week old kitten. Now it only purrs really loud when i go near him or he comes near me??
What does this mean as i heard that it means they are scared or worried.
He only ever seems to do it to me though

Please help i dont want to be causing the poor thing any stress.....

I think it may be some sort of allergy although it is only in one place and looks as though it has become infected. She gets very freaked out at the vets so am reluctant to take her so any advice please

a couple days ago, my cat came inside after being out all night and now her lip is really swollen and infected, there is puss oozing out of it and a huge chunk of skin is off. I dont know what could have happened to her...this has never happened before to her or any of my animals. HELP please if anyone knows anything please tell me...she is having trouble eating and drinking and she keeps like moving her bottom lip up and down really fast. it is really starting to scare me. My cat is dieing and I think it has something to do with the food, but when I look at the recall list the brandname isn't on there could there possible be another contamination or is my cat just dieing becuase of ffailing kidney's I mean she didn't start acting weird until we opened the friska's(sp) bag. I mean I would be very sad if the food company had something to do with this she was just fine a week ago when she was with me when I was digging.
Edit: And yes the cat was takken to a vet yesterday that's when we found out she had the problem with her kidney's we bought special food for her to now.

I have felt her abdomen and it seems that there is a large lump about the size of the other kittens in there but I don't know if this is normal or the uterus or a dead kitten that for some reason she did not expell from her body. Is there any way to tell besides taking her to the vet, as I am low on money?

I have a feline, she was always pretty normal looking, but now her stomache looks a BIT baggy, and her um...things (where the milk would come out) are swelling up a tad. I do have a male cat that is always playing with her, but she gets aggressive when he does much, so Im not so sure of shes pregnant....please help.

I need to know exactly where a female cat's urinary opening (meatus) is. Is it external, can I see it? Or is it tucked up inside the vulva and is not visible? Thanks for your help.
