a couple days ago, my cat came inside after being out all night and now her lip is really swollen and infected, there is puss oozing out of it and a huge chunk of skin is off. I dont know what could have happened to her...this has never happened before to her or any of my animals. HELP please if anyone knows anything please tell me...she is having trouble eating and drinking and she keeps like moving her bottom lip up and down really fast. it is really starting to scare me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

she needs to see a vet, it could be an abscess from being attacked, she could have been clipped by a car or bike, she could have rodent ulcer (eosinophilic plaque & eosinophilic granuloma) In any event, it needs treatment, it's infected and only antibiotics will fix it, before it gets into her mouth and stops her eating or up her nose and stops her breathing. A vet trip now could save you heaps if she needs hospitalisation and IV treament because you didn't go earlier. Once it's infected, it doesn't get better on it's own, it's too late to fix it yourself.

It probably happened when she was fighting with another cat. Cats have horribly bacteria ridden mouths and even a cats nail puncture will get infected a bite is even worse. She needs to go to the vet and get it cleaned out and a shot of antibiotics, and she should be good as new.

she needs to see a vet as soon as possible! she might have gotten a cut on her lip that you didn't notice, and then it got infected. if left untreated, the infection could spread to the rest of her body and she could die. it's also possible that her jaw is broken and that's why she's having trouble eating and opening her jaw.

the infection or broken jaw could be caused by anything, since she was probably outside when her lip got cut or her jaw got broken.

she really needs to see a vet!

Cats that are allowed to roam outside get into fights because cats are very territorial. Your cat needs to go to the vet NOW. Keep her inside!

she may have went hunting and her pray may have bitten her lip to escape. keep something cold on her lip such as a face washer or cold pack. take her to the vet ASAP and they should have a look at it and they may have something that will make the swelling go down. basically try to keep the lip cool to reduce swelling and take her to the vet. good luck i hope she gets better soon.

Kissing other cats from the other side of the tracks. Next time give her a curfew.
