I have felt her abdomen and it seems that there is a large lump about the size of the other kittens in there but I don't know if this is normal or the uterus or a dead kitten that for some reason she did not expell from her body. Is there any way to tell besides taking her to the vet, as I am low on money?

It sounds like there probably is, it would be mummified by now, the only way to be absolutely sure is to take it to the vet for a scan, if there is another kitten, it needs to be removed before it kills Mom and only a vet can do that!

Get the cat spayed while they're at it, it won't cost anymore, in fact, it's cheaper than a c-section!

No. There is no way to know this without going to vet.You didn't say if she were acting sick or normal? I have had a few cats have kittens and there is usually a hard lump felt on the side when she lays down. I always thought i was due to the uterus having to go back into shape..
But again, for what you want to know...The only way to know is go to vet.

Money should NOT be a priority when it's something as serious as this. If you feel that your cat may have a dead kitten inside her then you need to take her somewhere. Many times there are veterinarian clinics or shelters that are willing to help with low income veterinary care. Contact a vet.... they should be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction. Your cat is depending on you to do the right thing by her. She's trusting you... don't betray her trust.

The safest thing is to take the cat to the vet. I know it is so expensive. But if there
is another kitten that's dead, it will eventually kill the mother and the kittens will
die because they need their mother. What a heart wrenching decision you have
to make. If there is a dead kitten there is nothing you can do, but the vet can. I
am so sorry that this has happened.

If you're right she could die. You really should call a vet and have her looked at.

Why did your cat have kittens? She should be spayed for her own protection. It keeps them from getting diseases from un neutered males. And there are waaaaaaaay too many cats in the world already. See the vet and make sure she doesn't have a still born kitten inside and ask about getting her spayed at the same time. It's important!

Start acting responsibly for this poor creature and take her to the vets ASAP.
