I need to know exactly where a female cat's urinary opening (meatus) is. Is it external, can I see it? Or is it tucked up inside the vulva and is not visible? Thanks for your help.

I've spent 2 hrs searching the web for a photo/diagram, and cannot find one. My cat is having some discharge, and I want to know if it is coming from her uterus or bladder.

The urinary tract and reproductive tract both meet at the vulva, it's the same hole, it's only going internally that a differentiation is made.

I'd go to the library and see if I could find a book on cats that has some pictures of the anatomy of the cat. A picture would make it clearer.
By the way, why do you need to know??

They are not that rare, depending on the color of the mom and the dad you can get a ginger kitten male or female as for torties I have had a lot of them. I have a smoke tortie and white and 2 torties and white right now and I also have a ginger (cream) female kitten. I also have several patched (brown, silver, blue with their red counter parts) tabbies with or without white. The color red is usually a male but there are many red females and neither color or pattern are rare. R P CAT

You won't be able to see it. Is your cat having a problem? If she's having urinary issues, please call your vet to discuss.
This site has an anatomy chart:

There are some little beads coming out from my female (?) kitten's anus. Is this something that I need to be concerned about? My kitten is about 4-5 months old. When I touch it, she acts like it hurts. Thanks!
