My grandma lives alone with an older cat (as big as a small dog) and he's starting to have health problems. We would like to get a new kitty for her so that when her old cat dies she won't be alone. Does anyone have advice as to what breed/sex/age cat would be most compatible with an older male cat?

He hasn't had his shots yet, he's 6 1/2 months old..I know they will not fix him if he hasn't had his shots yet, so my question is. If we take him in this weekend can they give him his shots and fix him all at once? or will we have to get his shots and then wait a week or something, then bring him back to get him fixed?

Also, in the North Atlanta area, know any vets who perform this surgery and what the costs are? If you know of a paticularly good one, who charges a reasonable amount, please list their name here or email me. PLEASE, NO HATERS! I have not made any definitive decisions about this - that's why I am asking for RATIONAL people to post their arguments for and against the procedure. I'd like to hear from both sides on this controversial procedure.

Mk kitten is a Tabby Cat with Calico markings.

Lately she has been acting kinda weird.

Yesterday, I was petting her, (and by the way her name is Patches) very nicely, I rubbed her on the back. She jumped up from my bed and ran away. When she was small, she loved it! What's wrong with her. Is it just that she's growing up? She is spayed if that changes anything.

Does she hate me???

Will she keep doing this???
Is it just because she's growing up???
Or is it because she's having growing problums?

Hi my cat has come down with a cold. She seems to be sneezing out a red colored mucus and sometimes it even looks like human bugars! SOrry for the graphic explanation. She seems normal otherwise, but I am getting sick of cleaning up her snotty mess! Has anyone experienced this? If so please help! I am hoping there is something I can do before taking her to the vet due to financial reasons. Please don't respond if all you want to do is bag on me, you do not know my situation and do something better with your time as well.

When I'm sleeping, he'll jump up on the bed, bite the comforter, purr and move his 2 hine legs up and down. It looks like its something sexual. After he finished, he liked his *parts* and when I saw it, it was disgustingly erect!! :((( Is this masturbation and if it is do I have to worry about semen on my bed!? Does this happen to you? I'm sorry for the growse details but I hope that you guys will be mature.

So my two cats Mosby and Snickers have never been too loud, but lately both have been meowing all the time to me and getting right under my feet and bugging me a lot ya know. Mostly its just Snickers. They ALWAYS have access to their dry food and water. They may want wet food, which they only get in the mornings because I heard that it's not good for them and both are kinda fat so I dont want to give them more food. But they never used to do that and we have Always given them wet food in the morning. They just started doing this recently. I asked my mom if she thought it was a medical thing. She really didn't care much for it,she didn't think it was a big deal. But when I get home form school they bug me a lot they never used to do this. So please help. Thanks.

I rescued a 2yr old female cat 1 week ago, she is a ragdoll cross. I got told not to let her out for at least 3 weeks so she gets used to her home, but the lady at the rescue centre said that she would keep her as an indoor cat. She is a very pretty cat and likely to be stolen. But if she does want to go out should i let her?

My sister has a fuzzy gray cat who is getting old. She uses the bathroom right beside the litter box and WILL NOT use the litter box. Why is that? What can I do to make her use it again?

The box is cleaned regular and she pees and poops outside the box! WTH?

My cats have been eating Science Diet Light for years. I recently bought a new bag and after feeding them they (I have 4) have been throwing up almost everyday. I noticed the bag says GREAT NEW TASTE. I wonder how many cats actually contacted the company and said the stuff taste like Cr@p, make it taste better! I bought a bag of the Sensitive Stomach (it costs alot more and the bag contains less) and am slowly adjusting them to it. So far so good. I was wondering if anybody else was having the same problem. Do you think it's a ploy to get us to buy the expensive stuff?

my cat seems to have a hard time purring, it's not a steady purr like my other cats where you can tell they're breathing, but the purr continues. he seems to only be able to purr when exhaling (i think, maybe inhaling), so it almost sounds like he's faking it. also, it's VERY quiet & a little raspy. does he just have a different purr or could he have something wrong with him?

Problem persists. I have limited experience with dogs and cats and realize this may be an allergy thing. Cat eating a different cat food for 5 days...no change in lesions. Cat will begin eating another untried food (Nutro brand). This poor former stray is a sweetie with personality and did not become a compulsive licker (pretty much all over his body in a bit of a random way) until about 3 mo. ago. I put 'Revolution' for cats on him Jan. 8, 2007. This is good stuff that kills fleas, prevents eggs from hatching and also goes a long way toward killing ear mites. I tried the Rev. because I first suspected flea-bite dermatitis. I have treated with cortisone cream, aloe, colloidal silver, antibiotic ointment and Panalog Ointment (prescrip. from vet that contains nystatin-neomycin sulfate-thiostrepton-triamcinolone acetonide usp). Punky (my cat) is also now wearing lovely home-made "pajamas" to hinder him from licking his worst spot....THE VET SAID ABSOLUTELY NO MORE LICKING

Ok, I just put my cat in the tub. She got her whole body all soaked down. Now I just got done drying her with a blowdryer. Her hair is NOT wet at all. The only part of her that is wet is the bottom of her paws. Now since my cat is all dried and her hair isnt wet, Can I let her roam around the house? Will she get sick? And by the way, My cat acted very good. She loved the blowdryer and I dont have 1 scrath!

I live in an apartment building and have been feeding three stray cats for more than a year. A couple moved in about six months ago, and started putting out cat food for the strays at least five times a day. Now there are 18 strays! And, to top that, the neighbors moved away. Whenever I walk out my door, there are 18 cats running around. I need to get rid of the excess strays, but don't want to lose the three kitties that I've been taking care of. I also really don't want the strays to be euthanized. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get these kitties to go look for food elsewhere? I'm afraid my apartment management will be upset and might drop my lease. All suggestions are appreciated.

I'm planning on getting a kitten in a few months, when I move into my new apartment.

How much money should I set aside for getting it shots, food, cat litter, etc? I've NEVER had a cat or dog before, so I really have no idea how much it costs. The only pet I had as a child was fish :-( .

How often do you have to take the a cat to the vet? Do they need checkups?

I love cats...and I'm really excited to get one...I just have NO idea how to get started. I'm not even sure where I'm going to get one yet. Should I get one at the shelter? Pet store?

I need some help! Thanks!

Ok, so i have no clue what were doing wrong!!! Im 39 weeks pregnant, and due any day now, and we just found out again that our oldest cat has round worms, the ones from ingesting flea eggs, the vet didnt believe us, and we brought him in and sure enough he did, but were all baffeled, because in the past year including some of 2006, he has had them about 5 times, now both cats are on Advantage, so that the fleas are gone, and on top of that they get a bath with flea shampoo every other week, so what could we be doing wrong??? why does this cat keep getting them??? i mean, i cant bring a baby home to a house that house this infestation, sorry i feel horriable, is there anything i can do to get rid of the worms with out getting rid of the cat???
